Sheryl Crow undergoes breast cancer surgery
Singer postpones tour, but publicist says prognosis is excellent
Sheryl Crow underwent surgery for breast cancer on Wednesday and is recovering without complications, her publicist says. LOS ANGELES - Sheryl Crow underwent surgery for breast cancer earlier this week and the prognosis for a full recovery is excellent, her publicist reported Friday. The singer-songwriter had the surgery in Los Angeles on Wednesday and is recovering without complications, said Dave Tomberlin, her publicist. "Her doctors think her prognosis is excellent," said Tomberlin. In a statement posted on her Web site, Crow said she would have to postpone a North American concert tour that was scheduled to begin in March. She said she hoped to reschedule the dates as soon as possible. "Approximately one in seven American women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime and more than 2 million Americans are living with breast cancer today," Crow said. "I am joining the more than 200,000 women who will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year." Crow called the surgery "minimally invasive" and said she will be undergoing radiation treatment as a precaution. She said she benefited from early detection, and urged other women to have themselves checked. "More than 10 million Americans are living with cancer, and they demonstrate the ever-increasing possibility of living beyond cancer," Crow said. "I am inspired by the brave women who have faced this battle before me and grateful for the support of family and friends." Tomberlin said he didn't know when Crow was diagnosed or if she had told her former fiance, cyclist Lance Armstrong, who survived testicular cancer. © 2006 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. Sheryl? Breast cancer? No ****in' way. I'm not crazy about her (she's my brother's secret wife, though), but, wow.

Yeah...
I wish her luck in her recovery...Being married to a cancer survivor I know how hard it can be during treatments.

Holy ****e! I'm totally shocked. I hope she's alright.

Apparently, Melissa Etheridge is going to play in Sheryl's place at her upcoming Houston gig.

OMG. That hurts. Bless her heart... I will be saying my prayers for her. Thankfully she caught it early. I just love her to death. I'm hoping for her quick recovery. She was supposed to be here on the 25th of next month. I just bought my tickets. Looks like it will be postponed for a while, but I really wish for her quick recovery and health.

Crow's former fiance, cycling champion Lance Armstrong, said in a statement released Friday night that he was devastated to learn the news.
"Once again I'm reminded of just how pervasive this illness is, as it has now touched someone I love deeply," said Armstrong, who is a survivor of testicular cancer. "Based on my contact in recent days with Sheryl, her doctor and her family, I am confident that she will have a full and complete recovery and the world will be a better place for it," said Armstrong, who asked that Crow's fans keep her "in your thoughts and prayers." |
I wish her a full and speedy recovery! Just goes to show, that cancer can hit anyone, no matter how famous you are..awful thing to say, but what with her, Kylie and others as well known, it is publicising it more to the masses and this can only be a good thing.

I'm so glad it was caught early on .I love Sheryl and wish her a full recovery. She does kind of fit the profile ,over 40 affluent and never had children.
