You Tube Videos

I hate to come here and post bad news.

I've been getting some nasty e-mails from youtube saying some of the videos I've posted have "inappropriate content" and/or "copyright infringement" and they have removed/rejected them from the site.

They said if they reject one more my account will be suspended and all videos removed. Gasp. I will be so pissed. I've spent a lot of time uploading all that stuff.

For some reason, all the stuff they are rejecting are videos that aired on TV - NBC in particular (Tonight Show, SNL, Today Show) and none of the others, or at least they haven't gotten around to rejecting other networks shows yet.

In a somewhat desperate attempt to salvage what I have posted, I have made many of the TV appearance videos private instead of public.

If you send me a friend request on youtube, I will accept it and you will be able to view the private videos (assuming they don't cancel my account that is).

I'm afraid the cancellation may be impending however, because while I was on the site changing the status on some videos from public to private, I noticed they have rejected some more that I haven't been e-mailed about yet (putting me over the "one more time and you're out" quota).

Sorry for the bad news. I hope they don't all get removed. I wasn't trying to sell anything or infringe on anybody's copyright, I was just wanting to spread the love. :-)

Those lousy ba*tards!! It was fun while it lasted!!... Thanks for putting up all that you did... it's been fun to watch the vids rather then haul out tapes and dvds.... Many I had seen and many I hadn't... So thanks for that!

I doubt they're a bunch of mean-spirited Internet gnomes sitting around plotting ways to ruin everybody's fun. You can't blame them for not wanting to get sued by a huge media corporation, especially when they originally launched the site as a means for people to post their own personal videos.

goldustsongbird 02-24-2006 08:34 PM

Wow, you've gotten more? I only got the one. I can't say I blame them for wanting to protect their own asses, but it does annoy me some.
The way I see it, we're not making a profit selling them, nor are they (easily) downloadable... So what's the big deal?

Red 02-24-2006 10:03 PM

Exactly, no profit is being made by these videos so I don't see how this is damaging to any company/corporation.

priestofnothing: Thank you so much for posting as much as you have one youtube. You've provided me with literally hours of enjoyment, particularly when I've had the flu. YOU ROCK!!

Well, it could damage NBC in the sense that if you can get its content online, it kills the demand for reruns. Though, I have no idea why they'd want to rerun the 80s,because the 80s produced some really bad SNL moments, but still. NBC does it to control when its content is reaired.

Thanks for all you did and are doing to make us able to see more of Stevie!!
It was worth alot to be able to see those special moments from the 80's when she could still really sing...

(ok I am hiding now, before the Street Angel Lovers come out hunting for me :sorry: ... )

That's such a shame. Thanks so much for putting in the time, and for introducing me to the fabulous world of YouTube, Stevie-involved or not.
