Pizza: warning, dont come here counting calories

I'm a deep dish guy all the way. Never cared much for thin. There's this place here called Davanni's that serves the most mouth watering Deep Dish pizza. Though I've never really tried a true Chicago style deep dish.

I live in Chicago and hate deep dish pizza. I just don't like it. And as many great culinary masterpieces of pizzas I've had, I prefer my pizza to be pure junk food. Therefore, there is nothing better in the universe than a thin crust pepperoni or barbeque pizza from Pizza Hut. I also love frozen pizza- the cheap store brand ones especially.

And Trader Joe's frozen goat cheese and olive pizza is delicious, as I was telling Chili in the soup thread. It's my favorite pizza ever.

Have you ever tried DiGiorno's frozen? that's pretty good.

Yes, it's good, and so is Freschetta's, which is why I don't get them very much! I want junk food I can cram in my mouth, not actual good food.

Oh, and when I was watching my weight hardcore, I used to make myself fake pizzas all the time. I would use either a pita cut in half around or flatbread, and use pizza sauce, low-fat mozzarella, and I'd saute mushrooms in garlic and put them on there, then broil it.

English Muffin pizzas!

Cut EM in half....pour small amount of pasta sauce from a jar (just enough to get into the "nooks & crannies") onto EM half...top with your choice of toppings (mine: minced garlic, pepperoni slices & shredded mozzarella), bake in a toaster oven (DO NOT USE A STANDARD TOASTER! it is such a shame that disclaimers like this have to be uttered) until cheese melts.

Now this is my kind of thread: Pizza!

I could eat pizza everyday.

I like all kinds, especially thin crust. Not a fan of deep dish at all. It's all bread and I can only eat like 1 slice instead of 4 on a thin crust.

There's a place here in LA called Z Pizza and they have this amazing pesto, eggplant (cut super thin) and pine nuts pizza. Yummmmmm.

lol - y'all are gonna hate me, but pizza is another food I don't really eat. I did love the barbecue chicken pizza from Pizza Hut (I think it was) but it was only for a limited time.

SuzeQuze 02-21-2006 03:41 PM

I am a pizza addict and can eat it any day. They make nice slices in the cafe here. ChiliD, I'm also a big fan of the English Muffin pizza with pepperoni, its been too long since I made those! Your disclaimer cracked me up.

If it's pizza, I'll eat it. I do prefer thin crust over thick, but the most important thing to me is the sauce. I like it zesty.

There's a place here in Austin called Mangia that has THE best stuffed deep-dish pizza in the universe! The sauce (which makes or breaks a pizza for me) is divine.

What is stuffed deep dish pizza?

Hayley, I'm going to have to try that pizza from TJs you keep talking up, sounds so good! My Dad and I had Pizza Hut pan pizza last weekend and it really is so good. They oil up the pan pretty good so you essentially wind up with a fried pizza! Brilliant!

Well, it's kind of like Chicago style, but it has layers of crust and cheese and toppings, kind of like a lasagna style pizza...omg, it is to die for too.

I think I would melt if I had that, sounds superb!

It is, and it's so fattening...you have to come wearing your fat pants that's for sure!

I can only eat that stuff like once in a blue moon, because you may as well just shove lard down your throat, I mean we're talking cheese, cheese, and more cheese, and then of course my husband likes to get all meat pizzas which i'm not really all that big into. I think one meat topping per pizza is enough!
