Stevie Bought A Horse LOL

Stevie rockin' with the horse

HE had one of the most decadent marquees in the Birdcage at last year'sMelbourne Cup carnival. Now rock'n'roll mandarin Andrew McManus is embracing the equine industry.

He and '70s icon Stevie Nicks have just bought a $240,000 Flying Spur colt through Gai Waterhouse.

``Stevie fell in love with horse racing at the Melbourne Cup,'' McManus says.

``We talked to Gai about it, and when the Magic Millions were on she was able to secure a colt for us. The only brief we gave her is that the horse had to have a very good chance of being a champion.''

The pair haven't named their new acquisition, but punters will be expecting a very rock'n'roll moniker.

Meanwhile, Nicks is expected to visit the stables when she arrives in town to perform at an Entertainment Centre gigon February 25.

McManus -- who is nursing a shattered left ankle after almost hurling himself down the gutter with the bowling ball at his Christmas party -- has lots of other acts reaching these shores this year.

They include Wayne Newton and Status Quo with Deep Purple. But don't expect those ancient rockers the Rolling Stones. According to McManus, they're just too expensive to make a concert tour feasible.

Yeah I agree, I think maybe for a race horse that's probably pretty inexpensive. Don't forget this article appeared in Australia, though, so maybe those are "Aussie dollars." I would expect a race horse - especially one that is expected to be winning - ( there's that WORD associated with STEVIE again! ) - would be millions of dollars.

Enchanted_Stevi 02-18-2006 06:54 PM

Of course for a race horse thats pretty inexpensive.....lol....it might not be "aussie dollars" ecause there is a dollr sign($) in from of the amount...lol....I think that a race horse would be a round$500,000 to $600,000 maybe more

I just re-read it, and it says that it's a colt, so maybe that's why.
If so, I think that's a really good sign - she's making some long-term plans, looking to the future, etc...

seeker007nmss 02-18-2006 08:23 PM

How is she going to get it home, on the plane?

I've heard that "her horse is like a DRAGONFLY!" - so maybe she can FLY home on the horse!!!
Uhmmm . . . no really though, methinks it's probably gonna be staying there . . . .
It's a race horse so I think it's probably more of a fun investment than a pet.
Actually though I'm sorta suspecting that this was part of her payment for the tour, since she owns half and McManus owns half.
But - what will she NAME it!??? :]
