 eek! When was this? a Does anyone know anything else about it??

it's fairly old news...back in 99 I believe. I don't think anything, as far as Stevie is concerned, came about. This person was a frequent Stevie impersonator and, if memory serves, she was the one that lied about Stevie and her family being involved and supporting her "foundation" anyway.

Yes, I recently learned a little something about this - This person was a "Stevie Impersonator" (on stage) back in the early 80s or so and she's essentially been, for all intents and purposes, stalking Stevie for ages now. I have the impression that she's the same exact one that claimed she was the author of Sara - the judge laughed that one right out of court. There was another conjob too where she apparently took Stevie for a ride somehow. This time around she used their name to con people out of money for an "animal shelter" which didn't actually exist, and then kept the money for herself. Not sure of the details but I think maybe Stevie and her Mom somehow didn't realize this was the same person. Maybe Stevie has made some mistakes, but in my opinion she was entirely blameless here and was the victim, not the "perpetrator." Overall I think that maybe this person has had a very rough life and had some bad things happen to her, and she feels a great deal of jealousy and anger towards Stevie and directs that towards her by trying to make her look bad and by taking advantage of her. There may be another side to the story but that's the impression that I've received, personally. She's got some kind of a psychological problem.

She was on the Sally Jesse Rapheal show years and years ago on a show about look-a-likes. She went under another name back then. Funny because none of my Mac buddies at the time thought that she looked much like Stevie.
I don't think that she was the person who claimed to have written Sara because I think that person was from Michigan or something but not Arizona.

From Stevie Nicks FAQ:
Quote:

Q: Who is Britney Marx?

A: In the 1980s Cheryl Cusella was a Stevie Nicks impersonator in Phoenix. She claimed she owned a limo company, and went into the concert promotion business. Cheryl booked acts she couldn't produce, and didn't pay the ones she did, including Mick Fleetwood's Zoo. Cheryl was convicted of two counts of fraud in 1989, served 38 days in jail, got seven years probation and paid $32,000 in restitution. She then changed her name to Britney Marx. Reportedly in 1990 she published a book called "Sweet Poison: A Heartfelt Diary." Most recently in June of 1999, Britney was charged by the Arizona state attorney general's office with six counts of theft (totalling nearly $500,000) and one count of fraudulent schemes and artifices related to an animal rescue organization.
From phoenixnewtimes:

It's not easy being Stevie "The Kelvinator" Nicks. But it's even harder being a semi-pro Stevie Nicks look-alike. Witness the decadelong trials and travails of Cheryl Cusella (a.k.a. "Britney Marx"), the local Nicks clone whose efforts to carve out a career in her idol's hefty shadow led to an appearance on TV's Puttin' on the Hits and, later, a somewhat lengthier stint in prison after she defrauded investors in a concert-promotion scheme. More recently, she has reinvented herself as a country singer, a gay-rights advocate, a self-described rape victim (police became suspicious of the alleged attack when Cusella relived her ordeal on The Montel Williams Show, but refused to elaborate on details for investigators) and an animal-rights activist. But the hits keep on keeping on, and in September, Cusella pleaded guilty to bilking $500,000 out of 13 people who believed they were donating to an animal shelter -- money Cusella admitted that she actually spent on herself.
