Last.fm

Anyone else have one? Its like myspace, but it reads your music player and posts what you're playing online and makes charts which you can put in message board signatures, etc.

The only problem I have with it is that, sometimes I have like weird things on my playlist that shouldn't be there (IE Nelly. Don't like him, but for whatever reason i have one of his songs) and its gets published online. Woo.

I just started using it, and I like it more for the last.fm radio player than the charting stuff. I listen to music all day at work, so my iTunes library on here doesn't mesh with my home computer, where the vast majority of my MP3s are. So my top lists look all weird because a lot of it is stuff played on the radio station.

I LOVE the radio, though. It's awesome. I pretty much every day just have it play artists similar to the Magnetic Fields, and it pulls out amazing stuff! The streaming is great, I've not had a single problem with it buffering or skipping. It's so cool.

Mine is here.

I just downloaded it and if nothing else, the sound quality is phenomenal.

I love the radio, but its Fleetwood Mac station sucks. I get like, Eminem (wtf) and I once got Michael Bolton.

I just signed up about a week ago. Not much there yet. I really don't listen to music from my computer very much. But now that I have an iPod and iTunes on my home PC, I'll probably start doing it a lot more.

I haven't figured out all the features of last.fm yet, other than the music charter.

Anyway, here's mine

Interesting. In a similiar vein as your post. Here's a strange website:
iTunes Signature Maker (iTSM) analyzes your music collection and creates a short audio signature to represent who you are and what you listen to. After it checks your system configuration and asks you a few simple questions, iTSM will spend a few minutes analyzing your collection and generating the audio signature.

iTunes Signature Maker

Have fun. Mine turned out really cool.

PS
I kinda like Nelly.

Has anyone else signed up to Last.fm since this thread was started at the beginning of the year?

DrummerDeanna 09-04-2006 03:02 PM

I checked it out - but it looked a bit confusing - so I gave up and just never tried again.

Plus I'd be a little embarassed...I'd have a run of good stuff then something like "She's Like the Wind" would end up on the list and everyone would know how lame I truly am :p

my last.fm

I've been using it for about two years now. I'm pretty oldskool.

:) But look! There's more than 5,000 listeners of Mr Swayze's music on there.
You are not alone Deanna!

Not sure. All I know is you can download a plug-in for iTunes or Windows Media.
