MP3 Player question

Hi all,
Since I know several of you here probably have MP3 players I was wondering if you could share some suggestions on the good, the bad and the ugly ones.

First though I was wondering are ipods compatible with PC's? And can these MP3 players get music from CDs (can you record music from a CD onto an MP3 player).

Okay parameters: Must hold at least 500 songs, have a power cord to plug into a wall, be PC and Windows compatible, recieve music from CDs or CD's placed in computer, under $300. Would love if it could plug into the car and play (like how a cell phone plugs into the cars lighter).

Don't care if it connects to the internet, plays videos.

Any help is much appreciated.:woohoo: :blob2:

I have an Apple iPod 30 GB with Video. Yes, it is compatible with a PC as my computer is an eMachine. This iPod holds 7,500 songs, 12,000 pictures & 75 videos & I'm not close to holding any of this yet. Yes, you can import your CDs to your iPod using iTunes. In fact, most of my music on my iPod is imported from my CDs. I have bought a few songs, an album & four videos from iTunes. All iPods run on batteries, no AC adapters, but I do have portable speakers for it that run on batteries or an AC adapter. I have a FM transmitter for it (runs off the iPod when plugged in), but you can get the kind that plugs into the car lighter. This iPod cost me $299. I love it. I just bought an iPod book today in a bookstore to help me understand it a little more.

Hope this helps.

Lee :)

Hmmm... I don't really know if you have to use iTunes. I believe you do if you have an Apple iPod. This is my first MP3 player. I've never used Napster.

I googled iTunes to get a good definition of it:

"iTunes is a media player, written by Apple Computer, for playing and organizing digital music, video files, and purchasing digital music files in the FairPlay digital rights management format. The iTunes Music Store (also sometimes referred to simply as "iTunes" or "iTMS") is the component of iTunes through which users can purchase digital music files from within iTunes."

Thanks Lee! I'll probably visit a Best Buy and an Apple store sometime next week:)
