Stevie Nicks or Beethoven?

Who said this? Stevie or Beethoven?

"I carry my thoughts about with me for a long time... before writing them down... once I have grasped a theme. I shall not forget it even years later. I change many things, discard others, and try again and again until I am satisfied; then, in my head... [the work] rises, it grows, I hear and see the image in front of me from every angle... and only the labor of writing it down remains... I turn my ideas into tones that resound, roar, and rage until at last they stand before me in the form of notes."

Here and I always thought Dick Van Patten said that.

No now you're just being goofy, Stew. Plus I think you should remove the "Charles" from your sig. "Dickens" pretty much sufficiently identifies the quote! If you have not read "The Signalman," you should read it this Christmas, Stew. It only takes about 40 minutes to read. It's a ghostly tale, perfect for Christmas night.

Stevie is our modern-day Beethoven, although he was I think better at improvising at the pianoforte than she is.

Hmmm...

Dont think Stevie would ever say "I turn my ideas into tones that resound, roar, and rage until at last they stand before me in the form of notes."

Would have guessed Beethoven, but only because of the language used ... I'd say it's very relevant to Stevie.

Stevie's quote would go something more like this:

"So, um...you know...I carry my thoughts about with me for a long time... before writing them down... once I have grasped a theme. So...I shall not forget it even years later, you know?. So of course I change many things, discard others, and...um...try again and again until I am satisfied; so...um...then, in my head... [the work] rises, you know...so, it grows, I hear and see the image in front of me from every angle...um...like so... and...you know, so...um...only the labor of writing it down remains...it's wonderful....so, I turn my ideas into tones that resound, roar, and like, rage...so, you know...until at last they stand before me in the form of notes."

Stevie is our modern-day Beethoven? (Not that I disagree).
