Now that it's clear

.... that she isn't going to answer her Q&A on her website what questions would you have asked if you'd have dared?

I'll start

Is Dave Mason a total arsehole?

When you walk your dogs do you pick up their poo?

I wonder why she wont do it?

HomerMcvie 12-10-2005 05:55 PM

I think she should answer one question:

"Why won't you answer the questions?"

Really. At least tell us why.

Does anyone think that if ITM had been a big success, that that might've made the difference in her answering the questions? Maybe she was really disappointed in the sales, and just said, "to hell with it".

I really don't think the album sales were the problem. I've said it a million times, but IMO I think the finer points of the Q&A were probably handled wrong. I think she was just sent a few hundred questions-- some probably way too personal or scary to her-- and she got spooked by it and said forget it.

I agree. It doesn't sound as if she's really comfortable with the internet or computers. I don't think the administrator of her website really handled it well at all. It sounds like he sent all the questions(possibly hundreds)to her or most likely her nephew & assumed that they would figure it all out. It would have worked better if it had been done like John McVie's Q & A on this website...just a select, limited number so as not to overwhelm her. I also wonder if anyone screened the questions before she saw them. I really wish they would at least delete that contest from the news section on the site. I wonder if the administrator is even still involved with the website or even still works for Sanctuary Records.

There are a lot of questions I would ask her, but I certainly wouldn't have the nerve to ask anything personal. All of my questions were strictly music related.

Gailh 12-11-2005 01:48 PM

I think that some of the questions would have been on similar lines:

I know that many of us asked a variation of "Will you ever record/perform with FM again?"

So all of those could have been grouped together.

The competition went on longer than they said. Perhaps they could have set a limit on the number of questions maybe only one per person and a maximum of say 75.

It does seem odd though to say that you'll do something and then not do it. Also she suddenly went awfully quiet.

Hope she's OK

Maybe that's why she didn't answer her questions: too many of them were repetitive of points she had already more than thoroughly answered in interviews.

Or better yet, eliminated entirely & NOT sent to her, since she has already answered that question a million times. Why would she care to answer it a million & one times?

It was all a silly game. Competition? Number of weeks? Prizes? What hooey. If the artist agrees to answer some questions, collect questions for a couple of days, scope them out, get rid of the mind-numbingly stupid questions (which includes questions that have been answered a million times before), & send the good questions to the artist. Or ask the artist over the phone & just take dictation for the response. Then publish the responses. It ain't rocket science, folks. And there's absolutely no need to turn it into a dog & pony show, either.

To me, it seems sort of ... well, typical. Most of the interaction with their audience these Fleetwood Macsters engage in is sort of dragged out of them, like pulled teeth. I'm sure they themselves couldn't care less whether a proposed Q&A happens or doesn't happen.

It would be nice if one of them actually enjoyed the interaction with the audience, & therefore actively sought participation. But when you're being asked for the millionth time whether you plan to ever return to the group, I guess you get a little fed up.

Gailh 12-11-2005 02:29 PM

So why agree to do it then?

she's been around the block a few times. She must have know we'd ask mind numbingly boring questions.

I say again why agree in the first place?

I don't know.

Maybe she wanted to at one point ... thought it would be a brief & pleasant little outing into Audience Land.

Maybe somebody affiliated with "In the Meantime" told her that it would be a fairly painless & potentially useful way to market the album.

Maybe she lost a bet?

Needed to practice her word-processing skills?

Maybe she's in love with one of her fans & doesn't have the courage to ask him, so she was hoping they could communicate in lovers' code via the Q&A.

YES!

However, if he's not coked up, he's a really great guy. And, his hired hands seem to be really loyal. I can't imagine it's a great paying gig, so something keeps them coming back.

I totally agree. Just weeding out the repeats would have been a wise first step.

For Chris, that option might've worked the best.

I doubt whether Chris had much initiative in doing a Q&A, or much knowledge of what the heck it would entail.

well, actually a chap w/ the initials 'J.M.' did sort of do just that about a year ago. :) "Bring it on!" were his exact words regarding a Q&A. He also said thank you for his birthday greetings here at the Ledge. But it may not be in his nature, or Chris', for that matter, to more 'actively seek' participation w/ fans...maybe they are afraid to tempt fate and get involved w/ psychopaths, maybe they just have no great desire to endlessly discuss their FM experiences ad nauseum (much as I'd kill to hear it LOL). But to be honest, I always thought Mick would be more into that kind of thing. I'm surprised he's so silent on his website.

She always gave me the impression of a very respectful person who keeps her word. So I'm sure the problem was in a poor organization of the Q&A.

I agree! I thought that I read somewhere that HER questions were answered and ready to go (she recorded them on a tape recorder)...but they were still waiting for Dan to do his...and here we sit a year later and NOTHING!
