Band Face Off - Round 53

Nearly finished now - Round 52 saw a draw between Rufus and Jeff Buckley. Fair enough but c'mon someone give Jeff that winning vote, please! Even Rufus admits he was hugely influenced by Buckley - the song Memphis Skyline on Want Two is about Jeff and he even has Jeff's old drummer and his ex-girlfriend in his band!
And Gerald, Jeff was soooo not creepy. Ever hear his comedy version of Led Zep's Kashmir? He was awesome and damn funny too.
Anyway plea over and onto to Round 53 :D

Carly Simon has one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard, period.

Patti Scialfa? Springsteen got his ass handed to him on a silver platter by Petty* in Round 1, you really think the Missus has a snowball's chance in hell around here? Not to mix metaphors or anything. Plus, that warble...

I'm giving it to Ms. Melissa this round. She's got horrible taste in sperm, but "Come To My Window" certainly rocked my mid-90s.

*My prediction, by the way, since twenty rounds or so ago: Petty will win this whole thing, easily.

Carly Simon, because I was (sort of) named after her. I don't like her very much, but I don't know anything about the other two.

Did you like my Stereophonics suggestion in your pm btw?

I'm going with Carly Simon, even though I love Melissa Etheridge. Carly was a hero of mine when I was a little girl. Very classy and smoooooth.

Weird, I'd not have guessed that.

Almost time to do a for-real, final Everyone's Favorite Albums of 2005 thread, though.

Dont worry about it. They have a hit out called Dirty Little Secret I think. I have a great suggestion for you though. How about an all Irish round, Clannad VS The Chieftans?

shackin'up 12-10-2005 02:03 PM

I think I should include The Pogues and The Corrs too though!

I dont know them that well. Youre right though. I just think Clannad is one of those legendary bands that I would love to see you put up against someone.

DavidMn 12-10-2005 02:08 PM

Incidentally,I find it quite funny that alot of friends of mine have no idea That Clannad are member's of Enya's family, but maybe thats just me.
