Digital Cameras
I'm finally giving in to the technology age and buying myself a digital camera...the only problem is I know absolutely nothing about them. Does anyone here have a favorite they can recommend or any brand that they know is good? There is a slight catch though, I have a very very small budget for this, I don't think I'll be able to spend more than $250.00. I'd appreciate any help you can give, I'll probably be going out tonight to make my big purchase :)

Me, too. The price of film processing has become outrageous! I've got a few rolls of film left, and when they're gone, that's it! I'm going digital. Plus, 95% of the pics I take, I ONLY want them on the computer, anyway!

Thanks, I've heard a lot of good things about the Easy Share, I'll look them up online now and see what kind of price I can get. I'm so sick of having to wait days and days to get my photos developed.

Kodak is extremely user friendly & their cameras are getting cheaper & cheaper. I love mine. Just make sure you get:
*At least 3 megapixels (preferably 4) so that you can edit/crop/enlarge without affecting print quality. *Something with an OPTICAL zoom so that you can zoom in without losing quality (a digital zoom can look grainy.) *A memory card to go with it so that you can fit more prints in your memory without deleting them (the camera will probably only hold about 40 or so, after that you're out of room.) Good luck & enjoy! :xoxo: |
Ooh thanks for the memory card tip Paula, that would have completely slipped my mind! :xoxo:

I've got a Fuji Finepix S5500 and it's very good camera. 4 megapix, 10 times optical zoom, user friendly and since it's an old model now it's not that expensive anymore.
My mom is using it now cause I bought a digital SLR. |
Hmm, I definetly think I want to aim for at least 4 megapixels, 5 if I can manage it. I act as if I'll be using this camera for anything more than pictures of Fleetwood Mac.

I got it on clearance at Best Buy for just under $200 so with the card I paid $300 (I got a big, Fuji card - they were out of the generic). I highly recommend this camera. |
I got a Sony Cyber-shot 5.1 Mega Pixels MPEGMOVIEVX camera last year for Christmas. It has been an AWESOME camera. Fantastic clarity, gorgeous color, very vivid results. I've taken it to Vegas, P-town and to every concert I've attended since then and have been thrilled with the results.
I take pics like crazy of my cats and our new puppy Marco and it's been such an easy to navigate camera. Extremely user friendly and the screen is HUGE, so that was a big plus. Not one complaint with Cyber-shot. rbs |
Last year for Christmas, I bought myself a Nikon 3200 digital camera & I love it. It's small & has lots of different settings on it for different type scenes. It also has video on it so I can record my dog acting like he usual nutty self. Last year I got a good deal on it; I paid like $200, & it came with a free memory card. I bought a case for it & rechargeable batteries & charger. I'm not sure if they still make this model or not, but I would recommend it.

Little late for this, but I have the kodak easy share camera too. It is wonderful. As everyone else has said, very user friendly. Even for this electronic-challenged person *L* and oh yeah!! good advice on the memory card. Don't forget the Diskscan thingamabobber to transfer to your comp. But I think mine was like $20 at wal-mart.
