Aeon Flux

I didn't see a post about this movie already, so forgive me if there is one I missed. I just got back from seeing it and it is f*ing amazing. I loved every minute of it. It really explained a lot that I had wondered about. It goes into a lot of history that you didn't get from the cartoon. Charlize Theron does a kick ass job and so does the other lead guy (don't know him). The special effects are also great, though a couple could've been better. There were some things that I would've changed; more fight scenes, more acrobatics, more tongue...I wasn't disappointed at all. I actually went in without any expectations and was pleasantly surprised.

I dont know anything about the comic strip per se, but I can tell you, I thought the commercials were AWESOME. If the rest of the movie lives up to the commercials, then YEE HAW!

Meh. It hurts to see such a great actor as Charlize Theron to be working in a comic book adaptation. It kind of cheapens her image...

The reviews are absolutely abysmal.Rottentomatoes.com gives it a critics score of 11% out of a possible 100% which is terrible. This is too bad since films with female leads need to start making some money or there are going to be less of them than there already are.

I visit Rotten Tomatoes and MetaCritic before I see a movie and the reviews for this Aeon Flux, imo, aren't on target. I think the movie is very god.

I don't think that's true, at all. I guess it depends on how the performance comes across. In this instance, imo, Charlize is able to show great talent as an actor and even show she has the chops to work in a high action movie. I see it as a Mission: Impossible meets (that other Tom Cruise movie with the telepathic children).

What about great actors like Gene Hackman and Jack Nicholson? Kirsten Dunst? Tommy Lee Jones? Nick Stahl? Jennifer Connelly?

I read somewhere that she agreed to do this movie long before winning her oscar... So going from the "oscar winning credible actor" thing to the super hero movie role does seem an odd choice, and she may not have gone that route after winning the oscar, but I don't think she had a choice.

But I have to say, it does look a little interesting, but I know nothing about the comic book so I'll probably pass on this one.

It generally sucks if good actors are in bad movies, but it happens to most good actors at some point, anyway.
