Have a listen....
I heard this song for the first time this week on a great radio show here in Canada. It's by a one-man (Owen Pallett) band who calls himself Final Fantasy. He plays violin and arranges for The Arcade Fire. The song is called This is the Dream of Win and Regine (Win and Regine are two members of Arcade Fire).
Here's a link to the video: http://cliptip.blogspot.com/2005/12/...f-win-and.html I'll be interested to hear what you all think. I can't get enouigh of it. I think he's brilliant. If you want to read more about him: http://www.nowtoronto.com/issues/200...over_story.php |
No one was even a little bit curious? :distress:
|
How do I get it to play? :o
sorry, I didn't see this. Oh, I got it. |
It's pretty. I'm not so taken with it as you, but it's a good song I think. I like the video as well.
:sorry: |

This song is better than "The Ballad of John and Yoko," at any rate. (And my sincerest apologies to Regine for comparing her even indirectly to Yoko.) |
^^ Thanks for posting, Jyqm. I'm so glad someone listened and liked it (and that's not at all a dig at you, Amber. Sorry you didn't care for it). But you know when you discover a new artist, or in this case, just a song, and it's so unique, and so great, and so fresh that you want others to have the chance to hear it? It happens so rarely these days with the stuff that makes it to radio. I thought people here might appreciate it. I'm not sure it'll ever get a whole lot of play on mainstream radio. Which is too bad. Anyway, if anyone else is still interested - if you like Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene or any of its members... give this a listen. Or, if you just like to give a new artist a chance... The link in the first post still works.

I'm also really glad that the members of the band have been able to work on their various side projects this past year in spite of the fairly intense touring regimen the Arcade Fire was on. It goes a long way to show how much of a supergroup of the Montreal scene they really are, and I'm glad they can have some measure of success with their other projects as well. Even if Will's too much of a rock star to respond to my e-mails, the bastard... |

(I guess I just put myself even MORE in the non-cool club. Well, cool - I'll own it then. Here's to the non-cool Ledgies). |

Am I in the "cool club" or the "non-cool club"? Do I get a membership card? Do I have to pay dues? 'Cause f*** that. I would say the bigger reason that more people didn't respond to this thread is that you posted a link to a video that takes a very long time to download, and most folks probably just didn't bother. I know I usually skip right over any post that involves, "Go here and watch/listen to this." This one being an exception because I'm an Arcade Fire junkie. There are plenty of people who I'm sure fall into the "non-cool club" who post completely banal things that get tons of responses. It's got nothing to do with who made the original post and everything to do with the fact that people seem to like talking about banal crap a lot of the time. |
I didn't notice this thread before, thanks for pointing this group out I didn't know them. The song leaves me a bit cold though it sounds very influenced from '80s British end Northern European progressive rock, a kind of variation on the theme. And I find the classic instruments quite underused on the track. But It's still better than the 70% of the music that goes around these days.
