Tom Petty... was it true?
 

Years ago.. I think was circa 1996 (definitely before the Dance), I read about a romance between Tom & Stevie, but I never saw any pic or read more info about it. Was it really true? How long it last?

Wait for him to die and Stevie will spill the beans.

My guess...no. But with Stevie you never know.

There was something in the Enquirer (I believe) about Jane Petty being all pissed at Stevie for ruining her marriage. I never saw the article but have heard about it from other people. At this point with all the men that she's been involved with, it totally wouldn't surprise me.

Hmmm they just seem to be really close friends to me.

There were some rumours... not that long ago about these two, so much that Conan had it as a segment on his show. You know where he does the "If Tom Petty and Stevie Nicks had a baby it would look like this." And then morphs their two faces together... It was funny... but what a butt ugly face it produced.

If they ever HAD had a kid..I would have hoped it had looked like stevie cuz DAMN...

I think maybe he just had a crush on her and that was about it.
I can easily picture her saying, "Tom, you're a nice guy but..."
Which of course is Stevian for "you're dead in the water with me for all eternity, but THANK you for playing!!!" :lol:
Besides, Stevie was with Someone Else back then - someone young, whose heart beat free. . . . ;)

So I had to think about this for awhile and here is what I came up with. Stevie and Toms first wife Jane were close, so no I don't think they ever 'did it" :D . I think they are more like a brother and sister, also I remember the rumour started after the one day they were spotted out to lunch in L.A.when she asked him to help her write songs for TISL and he said "No! You are a great writer and you don't need anyones help" ! Or something to that effect. He and Jane were already split up at that point, so tongues started wagging. I mean, we all know about her honorary Heartbreaker status and thats not to say she didn't "date" Campbell or Benmont, but I don't believe she is more than a close friend to Tom, to this day.

Tom is one man I don't believe Stevie actually ever slept with. Hard to believe, I know but yea, I don't think Tom let it happen.
