Mazurka

Does someone have the mazurka from Coppelius by Delibes? Could you please post it? I must hear it today, otherwise I will die.

In a mood to dance?

Sorry, the only Delibes I have is "Lakme", on vinyl. Mady Mesplé's voice is so amazing in this recording!
I imagine you would suggest I look for that mazurka? I don't know much about Delibes, and like many people, I looked for a copy of "Lakme" after hearing the often used "Viens, Mallika" duet.

I have spent more time listening to Early music than I have Classical.

The mad, mad Coppelius . . . if I hadn't picked Erasmus as my favorite person of all time, I might have picked the equally mad Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann, creator of phantasms & doppelgangers & tortured artists whose psyches are rent in two.

Hey, the Criterion Collection DVD of "The Tales of Hoffmann" was released just about five days ago! There is a tiny snippet of "Coppelia" in "The Red Shoes," but the spirit of Hoffmann hangs over these Powell-Pressburger films.

Wow, I had no idea that this ballet was based on the Sandman story. I thought of that story recently and I couldn't recall the author or the title. My husband encouraged me to read it, about 11 years ago, it was on his reading list in preparation for his dissertation, but of course, he could not recall the author or title either. He is a fan of Erasmus as well, and in fact the title of his Dissertaion was: "The Origin of Science Fiction in the Monsters of Botany: Carolus Linnaeus, Erasmus Darwin, Mary Shelley"

I want this recording now, and to see the ballet. Thanks David, and Mikki!
