The OKC...

plant will be the first to close come early 2006.

That production plant knew its days were numbered with production of the SUV, which has had awful lagging sales for the past few years.

About 2,300 will lose their jobs in OKC...Not nearly as bad as when Lucent laidoff 10,000 in OKC at the end of the 90's, But the estimated income loss for the state due to the plant closing will be around 1 billion a year.

Sure you do, David. It's 30,000 fellow Americans who won't have a job for Christmas....

golddustdragon 11-22-2005 03:56 PM

Or even Thanksgiving. For those who have jobs, be thankful for it. It could easily disappear in the name of economic progress. That's what Bush and his talking heads are describing it as anyway.

I do. I have worked for a GM dealership for 20 years and we are all feeling the trickle down of GM's large problems. It is very uncomfortable to see what GM may do next.
