Perfect Cover Songs for Stevie

This has probably been discussed a million times before... but whateva!

It's a new season and new feeling....

But what song(s) do you think would be perfect for Stevie to cover?

I've always thought Heart's "Magic Man" was perfect for her...

Also, since I've been listening to my "Halloween" music lately, a lesser known song.... "Darkening of the Light" by Concrete Blonde would be awesome for her.... the Stevie imagery is perfect.... and I can hear Stevie's and Sharona's and Lori's layered upon layered background vocals on it, and I picture a beautiful dark lovely video for it ....

Like a ghost...is the curtain ...
in the white light of the morning...
dancing... in the morning....
are you there....are you there?
and a shadow...like a sadness...
falling all across the garden...
dancing.... in the garden ...
are you there, are you there?

Shine on, friend....
Goodnight....
Why then.... the darkening of the light....

And the leaves... at my feet...
whisper sounds... so familiar...
whisper.... so familiar-
are you there? are you there?

where the clouds... pull apart....
where the moon... changes faces...
in the quiet... secret places...
are you there? are you there?

Amen!

I've been waiting all these months for this tnak you pon my fav ledgie but hold on I have to finish something up for work and i'll get right back to ya!:]

Hi, I'm new here, my name's kirsten, i love reading what you all have to say... and when i saw this post, i thought i might give my 2 cents... ok this is a really random song, but one day, when i was listening to the radio, Elvis Presley's "Suspicious Minds" came on, and for some reason, i was like, "oh my god this sounds like such a perfect stevie song" and then it came on again and i thought the same thing... i dont know if it's the lyrics, or the melody, or both, i just think it's fab, and i love the song, too.

We’re caught in a trap
I can’t walk out
Because I love you too much baby

Why can’t you see
What you’re doing to me
When you don’t believe a word I say?

We can’t go on together
With suspicious minds
And we can’t build our dreams
On suspicious minds

So, if an old friend I know
Drops by to say hello
Would I still see suspicion in your eyes?

Here we go again
Asking where I’ve been
You can’t see these tears are real
I’m crying

We can’t go on together
With suspicious minds
And be can’t build our dreams
On suspicious minds

Oh let our love survive
Or dry the tears from your eyes
Let’s don’t let a good thing die

When honey, you know
I’ve never lied to you
Mmm yeah, yeah

I dont know- i think I can see stevie doing this for fun, maybe not in concert, but with Don maybe- I think Lindsey's voice would be too high for it (even though it would be directed towards LB, duh) anyway, thats my thought!! and i think you guys are great!!!!

As a HUGE fan of both the band Concrete Blonde and it's singer and songwriter, the incredible Johnette Napolitano, I can think of a number of her songs that would be considered tailor made for Stevie. "Darkening Of The Light" is certainly one of them. Great call!

Welcome new peeps!

I like it when Stevie does covers, but it just pains me that she would do those instead of "finishing" all her unreleased songs.

Just for grins - what if Stevie covered some newer stuff? Say by Britney or Xtina or (insert Pop Tart here)? Ya know, just to show them how it should be done.

But, there are a few Patty Griffin songs I wish were Stevie songs. As well as a few Tori Amos... (as much as I love both of those ladies).

I've said this in a previous post, but I think she would do a bang-up job of "I Put a Spell on You". I squeel just thinking about it!

I put a spell on youuuuu
WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLL because you're miiiiiine.

Patty Griffin's "Rain" is awesome... I actually cry when I hear it/sing it... I don't know about Stevie covering it... I might have to go to the hospital for treatment if I heard that...

And I love-L-O-V-E- love Tori's "China" but I'm not sure about a Stevie cover on that one... maybe on a "Caught A Lite Sneeze"' that seems more Stevie's speed..... or at least my speed of Stevie.... :-)

If I ever heard stevie cover "Summertime" i do believe i would crap my pants. it would be amazing! or...ball and chain? it'll never happen, but i can dream, right?

I'm also in love with Bryan Ferry of Roxy Music... he melts me with his cover of I Put A Spell On You....

OK...who's ready...

Stevie sang that once!

 With her voice? Not possible.

I've always thought Stevie, with heavy vocal harmonies from Christine, could do a brilliant cover of the George Harrison-penned Eric Clapton song "Run So Far" from his "Journeyman" album.

I love this song SO much - and Concrete Blond, for that matter. True, would be great for Stevie (right along the "pains of making it big" themes she does herself). I've always loved the line "they talk you up and then they talk you down, and you begin to doubt..." Perfect Steviesque angst.
