What Depresses You?

What depresses you?

I once cried when I saw the wind blow all the dandies off a dandelion.

I don't know why, but for some reason that just struck me as depressing & I began to despair of the ways of the world, & of all her inhabitants therein.

At the time, I was on a Beethoven late piano sonata kick. So I was listening to the Op. 111 Arietta adagio molto hoochie-coochie cantabile over & over & over again.

Missing the last prada in my size at Neiman Marcus' Last Call

Seriously, seeing crippled children.

On the other hand, seeing them blosom as much as they can with care gives me hope.

Looking at old photographs.

Christmastime.

Being "back home" at Christmastime.

Hearing about past relationships of my own thru other people.

Ungratefulness.

Missing / Have You Seen This Person flyers.

Violence.

Ignorance.

The mid-west.

Narcissism.

Movie remakes.

heyjupiter678 10-15-2005 07:43 PM

The state of the country.

Politics, in general.

Child/Elderly/Animal abuse.

Getting older.

stargazer99 10-15-2005 07:47 PM

The news.

Violence, especially against children. (I cry like a baby even watching fictional shows where a child is hurt or killed.)

People who can't think for themselves.

The state of this country.

Lots of things.

Animal cruelty and how so few care about the treatment of animals.
Feeling like I haven't done enough with my life to help others.
The effects of American capitalism.
Lack of empathy.

That is how it was written in the script and it was written for a sleazy but hot Peurto Rican Pool Boy.

Put these on my list, just for starters.

I wanted to take this opportunity to compliment David on his use of pictures since he has discovered photobucket. They are especially striking and appropriate yet original in this particular thread.

hmm, I was going to put one more for good measure, but that "effects of american capitalism" one encompasses a gigantic portion of things I could say.

When I stop to pet cats when I'm out walking (there's lots all around the neighborhoods) and they act like they don't want me to leave, and kind of follow me down the street, but I don't know what they want, or if they're in trouble, or if they have homes (in some cases. Some have collars and are really fat). And they miaow at me and get that compelling look in their eyes, as if they really need something, but I still have to leave anyways. To assuage my sorrow, I tell myself that they all probably just want some food, or to be let into their houses, which is what most cats want a large portion of the time that they interact with you. :)

Oh, and this is a big one - when i don't have the food I want, and can't get it.
Or also when i don't have much food.

When people who are gay feel like they can't just be gay because of various societal strictures. And when others get caught up in that circle of deception...

Ghetto-ass arguments that I can hear from my apartment.

Just some:
Indifference
The fact that only a small part of the world population doesn't have to struggle to eat everyday
Reality shows
Our Prime Minister
Over spoiled teens

It should be (according to vague memories from an exam) an expressive indication to have the piece played as if it was sung, and it's usually applied to slow movements, like adagio or andante... I think .

Let's see....

-WWII movies
-kids with disabilities
-income tax
-racism
-business women downtown who wear their white high top runners with their dark nylons and skirt-suits. As if that's acceptable.

sweetie, I think they only do that after they're done with work, or at lunch, when they have to walk places. If I have to wear high heels everyday, I wouldn't want to tromp all around town with them, either.
