Martha Stewart and Me - face to face!

ok, so i'm on my way to my friend's apartment last night in New York City.. i'm driving along 47th street when I come upon a red light at the corner of 8th avenue.. I happen to look over to my left and lo and behold, who do i see? yup, you guessed it, Martha Stewart...

She was standing there with some other lady on the side of the street, talking to some guy who was riding a carriage.. She was literally 6 feet away from me... so i rolled down my window and in my most obnoxious voice, i said "Hi Martha!!"... she looked at me with this blank look on her face, obviously trying to avoid making it known to me that it was, in fact, her... so i said it again (i was still at the red light, so i had some time to kill), and she rolled her eyes..

Now, this is not the first time I have come face to face with a celebrity in New York City.. but this is the first time I have encountered one who seemed a bit on the unpleasant side.. I wasn't expecting a hello, or a wave, or a "hi, would you like an autograph?" (not that i would want one from her anyway), but a simple smirk or head nod would have been fine...

I guess what they say about her is true...

Fun with celebrities or other folks

She must have been amazed that you recognized her outside of her studio, or prison garb!
Nest time you see her...just say
" Martha, Martha Martha " while shaking your head is a disapointed fashion!
She will have no idea who you are or what you are talking about  I love doing that to people.

Like when I make a driving error, wrong lane or pull out in front of someone (unintentionally, of course :sorry: ), and the other driver gets an attitide...yelling and gesturing with fingers extended...you get the picture...
I always give them a real big Smile, really big and WAVE madly like they are my long lost friend friend that I haven't seen in a long time....haha
Totally messes people up. They just look at me like  WTF?
It's hysterical-Try it sometime

So...like...how obnoxious? Like teasingly obnoxious? rude obnoxious? Sing songy obnoxious...very loud and agressive obnoxious? Like poking a dog with a stick obnoxious?

Ok Ok I'm bored...but I want more of a clarification so I can get the visual correct.....

Are you absolutely sure it was her? Because that makes me sad if she is really mean in real life...

To give her the benefit of the doubt, maybe she didn't know you were talking to her. I sometimes don't acknowledge if someone says "Chris" since the name is so common and I don't want to look like an idiot.

I know that is kind of grasping at straws, but I just feel bad that the rumors are true!

I have tried so hard to support Martha through the Imclone issue. I have tried to make excuses for her bitchy-ness as being a result of anti-fem thought ('agressive successful men are powerful and agressive, successful women are bitches' theory) BUT

I watched her Apprentice show (*I usually don't watch TV) last week and I was shocked when I heard the conversation between her and one of the contestants:

Girl: I am so embarrassed right now I could cry.
Martha: If you cry I'll kick you out right now. Women don't cry in business.

That is bullshi*t. And a terrible message to send to women who are trying to be successful in business. Lots of men and women cry in business. It is sad that people have to be ashamed to cry. Talk about insecure. One of the contenders said it best on Trumps Apprentice when she cried when she won. Trump questioned her crying after the victory and her response was " Mr Trump, I have seen 300 lb. men crying when they hold up that Superbowl trophey"

I lost respect for Martha when she said that. Her daughter, whom I had never seen until I watch the show, obviously has some very serious deep seeded emotional problems. She looks miserable. The hurt and bitterness in her eyes say it all.

Sadly, I have changed my opinion of Martha. She is a b*tch.

You think she's an unpleasant person because you yelled out her name obnoxiously & she rolled her eyes? It's not like you said "Hi, Martha, how are you" or anything. I would have rolled my eyes too. :sorry:

Could it be the fact that you were being obnoxious that made her ignore you? Try the polite "Hello, Martha, I admire your work," approach and I'm assuming you'd get a far better reaction. If a stranger screamed out to you from a car, I can't imagine your reaction would be much different.

Good lord, where have you been? She's a hell troll. I know someone who worked for her and she is the she-demon from the 6th gate of hell. If it was only just "frigid", we would be lucky. Run away! Run fast! This "women" and I use to the term loosely, since I bet she has a tail, is not human She makes Leona Helmsley look like Mother teressa. And NO it isn't because she is a "successful female" if she was a man, I would call Martha a dick-weed. I can't stand her (in case you can't figure it out).

Just be glad she didn't try to steal your soul. What a hag.

I know she's a big bitch and all that jazz, but I still like her for some strange reason. Oh well.

Compared to Anna Wintour, Martha is a saint.

Granted when people are suddenly handed bad news - like the death of a loved one or getting fired, there is reason for tears. But people who cry at work because they are dealing with stress are a pain in the ass. I speak from experience as I have a boss who is a notorious cryer. She'll cry when an animal dies in a movie or because her ears popped on an airplane during take off. She could be completely put together one second, but the next second she'll start huffing and the tears will be streaming down her face because of something that is bothering her. She knows she's a big crybaby and works very hard to keep herself together. Somedays she's great but not always. But it wears me down tip-toeing around her emotions making sure that nothing I bring up will make her cry. I come to work hoping she's not going to cry today and force me put on my "supportive understanding sympathizer cap" for her because frankly I wish she'd just get the F over it and grow up.

And I don't know about you, but I've worked 2 different places in the last 15 years, and I have yet to see a man cry at work.
