Plants

Do you have houseplants? Or do you kill them? Do you garden? Or do you hate getting your hands dirty?

I currently have a sickly looking Spider Plant & a gorgeous Wandering Jew in the house. I have very little luck with indoor plants. I always kill them eventually. I'd love to have a jade plant, but I'm terrified I'll ruin it. There's an aloe plant near death right now in my office at work - I'm sure patients have tons of confidence when they come to see me.

I do a bit better outside. The woman who owned this house before me did most of the work with perennials - I have clematis, rhododendon, a gorgeous lilac bush, several hostas, burning bush & tiger lillies. Every year I still do a bunch of annuals, though. Mostly New Guinea Impatiens, shade impatiens, portulaca, petunias, and a bunch of others that I know by sight but not by name.

I HATE marigolds for some unkown reason. And I don't like those petunias with red & white stripes.

I have a bunch of bulbs I need to plant this year. Of course, I say this every year & I've only done it once in the past 5 years. Maybe tomorrow....

Every plant I have ever had has died. :distress: I'm just not good with them. I can't keep those suckers alive for nothing.

I have white orchids right now. I'm not a flower person at all and generally dislike having to look at them in my own apartment, but last month I woke up and had the desire to put white orchids in my living room. And I did. I got some kick ass stainless steel vases to put them in and they look good.

I received some beautiful orchids this past Valentine's Day and killed them pretty quickly. The only plant I've been able to keep alive is a Peace Lily my parents gave me for my birthday a couple years ago.

I used to have plants, but one of my cats is a 'digger'. She enjoys digging out plants, to play with the dirt. And she likes to nibble on everything that's green.
I've some fresh herbs now, I wonder how long they'll last!

for years i tried over and over again to grow cannabis, whether indoor or outdoor, plain plants and from seeds i brought from amsterdam, in any season and in any way, they all died on me. each and every time. i'm just hopeless. why would i even try growing anything else? :distress:

I killed a cactus once. I killed it with kindness. I overwatered it.
Now, I stick to plants that dont have flowers, although, I have a white Orchid that bloomed like CRAZY last year and has sent up a new stalk this year...
I have a "pot" garden on my porch, all the plants are in pots. some people say "container garden" ....I like saying "pot garden" So sue me.   :p ;)

I love plants.

Yes, I have houseplants & gardens outside. I have a spider plant. I love African Violets; I have about four of those. I have mini ivy plant that I bought at Longwood Gardens in PA. I have all kinds of plants outside, perennials, annuals. I even have container plants on my deck. The "Wave" petunias are awesome though I didn't have any this year. Hostas are great perennials & so are ferns; I have a few of each. I am a plant person that's for sure. I do have one problem though with a certain lilac bush. It's never bloomed. Had it for maybe five years. I've done everything to get it to bloom. I cut it back & I feed it twice a year. Leaves but no flowers. I'm stumped on this one. :distress:

And oh yeah, I have three plants sitting on my desk at work.

Lee :)
