Photos of my alter-ego

so I was finally able to get some decent copies of my publicity pics and I thought I'd share and see what you're thoughts are - I don't quite look like this anymore as I need to lose a few lbs... but it'll work out.

if you don't like drag or are offended by it, don't view the pic

I wonder where they got the term "drag". Looks convincing to me. (How they do that?)

I believe it came from the use of the word "drag" to describe the face/makeup. Lots of older women say, "I need to check my drag" - Patti Labelle still says it to this day.

It does. Normally it takes about 4-5 hours on a good day from start to finish. To me, it is a beautiful art when it is done right - of course there are lots of skanks that kind of ruin it.

It was coined in Europe during the late 1800's to define clothing that's associated with a gender role and has some sort of symbolic meaning.

Great pics, too! Do you perform, Jason?

thanks Jill. I appreciate it.

btw, I was showing a friend of mine at work your tattoo - she wanted a tribal heart and I was like, you've got to see this other one and she loved it...

Thanks Diss. I used to perform every Saturday/Sunday night at various clubs and also did private bookings; birthday parties, etc. I've kind of gotten out of the circuit just because life is just too hectic, but I still do benefit shows here and there. I am in the process of getting together a Diva Challenge idea for a Katrina benefit.

Sounds great! I used to do a lot of jam band stuff at local bars with friends (not in drag, mind you  ), but haven't done any of it since the spring; I'm itching to start doing it again. What were your favorite songs and artists to perform?

Best of luck with the benefit, too. :D

you know the odd thing was, and I kind of became known for doing this, I performed lots of songs by black artists. janet jackson, destiny's child, patti labelle, lil kim...I loved doing any Christina songs...I did a couple of Stevie songs.

My favs are:
Indendent Women, Destiny's Child
If, Janet Jackson
How Many Licks, Lil Kim
Diamonds are Forever, Shirley Bassey
Dirrty, Christina Aguilera
Making Love Out of Nothing At All, Bonnie Tyler (my signature song)
All the Man That I Need, Whitney Houston

I'm also kind of known for awesome medleys, if I do say so myself :)
