Band Face Off - Round 9
Round 8 was a toughie but the Man In Black just managed to squeeze past The King and the Big O, to take the crown. Johnny Cash won by 16 votes, to Elvis' 15 and Roy Orbison's five votes.
Round 9 sees two of the ultimate pop acts up against each other in a bloody battle to the death!!!! Or something like that. Who will you choose? The results so far: Round 1: Petty defeats Springsteen - 35 to 17 Round 2: Led Zeppelin defeats The Who - 22 to 18 Round 3: Madonna defeats Sheryl Crow/Kate Bush - 24 to 12/10 Round 4: The Beatles defeat Rolling Stones/U2 - 22 to 15/13 Round 5: Guns N Roses defeat Bon Jovi/Metallica - 16 to 13/12 Round 6: Heart defeat Blondie/The Pretenders - 22 to 14/6 Round 7: The Beach Boys defeat The Kinks/The Byrds - 21 to 10/9 Round 8: Johnny Cash defeats Elvis/Roy Orbison - 16 to 15/5 The polls are still open, vote now! |
I voted for the Carpenters. :o I just think Karen had one of the most beautiful voices ever.

Why do birds suddenly appear...every time you are near?
The soundtrack of my life....The Carpenters |
Sharon, your polls keep getting tougher. ;)
I'll go with ABBA. For the hell of it. |
Amber gave me the idea for this one. I was wondering who to put Abba up against and she suggested The Carpenters for a Face Off, and I thought perfect!
|
Abba, without question. For the cinematographic element in their music. :D
Romy |
Where's the neither button! I have nightmares of Junior High dances to "We've Only Just Begun!" So, by default it will be ABBA.
Terry |
I voted for The Carpenters, just because Superstar is one of the darkest, most brilliant pop songs ever!

If you change your mind I'm the first in line... :D |
ABBA dabba doo!!!
er...that's not really a defense of my choice, i just wanted to say that. :D I've never even really considered liking the Carpenters. It was always way to cheesy shmaltzy to even be noted. But - to be fair, she did have a pretty voice, and I don't know a ton of their material, just some. But ABBA - oh, man, it doesn't get any better than that! And they all have pretty voices, too.... |

But there's no shame in being beaten by Elvis and Cash. I still love Roy, he had one of the best most moving voices ever. |
