Turn this world around.

Really wanted to share these lyrics with you guys. A song by Amy Grant, and these lyrics stir my soul in a deep way...and I feel it's really a song about that longing for hope and change in the world...

TURN THIS WORLD AROUND

We are all the same it seems
Behind the eyes
Broken promises and dreams
Our good disguise
All we're really looking for is some place
Safe and warm
The shelter of each other in the storm

Maybe one day
We can turn and face our fears
Maybe one day
We can reach out through the tears
After all it's really not that far
To where hope can be found
Maybe one day
We can turn this world around

Who can trace the path of time
Not you or me
The twisting road we call our lives
We cannot see
The hunger and the longing everyone of us
Knows inside
Could be the bridge between us if we try

Maybe one day
We can turn and face our fears
Maybe one day
We can reach out through the tears
After all it's really not that far
To where hope can be found
Maybe one day
We can turn this world around

Yes that is a nice song. I really like Amy Grant. There is always hope in her songs. I have been a fan of hers forever. At least since 1984.

Yes, she actually started recording in 1977/78. She actually was a pioneer if you will...because there really was no "contemporary christian" music back in those days.

One of her greatest songs...

"Lead Me On"

(Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, Wayne Kirkpatrick)

Shoulder to the wheel
For someone else's selfish gain
Here there is no choosing
Working the clay
Wearing their anger like a ball and chain
Fire in the field
Underneath the blazing sun
But soon the sun was faded
And freedom was a song
I heard them singing when the day was done
Singing to the holy one

[Chorus: ]
Lead me on
Lead me on
To a place where the river runs
Into your keeping, oh
Lead me on
Lead me on
The awaited deliverance
Comforts the seeking...lead on

Waiting for the train
Labelled with a golden star
Heavy hearted boarding
Whispers in the dark
"Where are they going-is it very far?"
Bitter cold terrain
Echoes of a slamming door
In chambers made for sleeping
Forever
Voices like thunder in a mighty roar
Cry to the Lord

[Chorus]

Man hurts man
Time and time, time again
And we drown in the wake of our power
Somebody tell me why

Amy was one of the first Christian music artists to sing rock. Her album, Unguarded (my personal fave) is lauded as one of the greatest Christian rock albums of all time. Lead Me On is another.

Lead Me On is an AMAZING ALBUM! Considered one of the best! And that song is simply beautiful! I think Michael wrote the verse and Amy the Chorus.

Smitty

He's my favorite male Christian artist. I adore that man. He's an amazing writer, singer and pianist.

He is simply amazing! I wish that he and Amy would mount a tour together soon! That would be killer! (I love them politically too...haha)

I have Michael's Worship DVD, Talking about bringing you to your knees. Very powerful. He also does a spoof on the Osborns, very funny.
