whaaa!!! i'm sick...

this sucks. i had a meeting today and on my way there i developed a ridiculous head ache. by the time i got home, i had the chills and that achy flu feeling! so rather than going right back to work on projects, i slept on the couch, drank green tea, orange juice and water. but i'm still feeling super crappy! i have NO TIME to be sick right now. i'm self employed. don't work, don't get paid. anyone have any get well quick schemes? :distress:

Rest as much as you can right now, and you'll probably get well faster. Take extra multivitamins, and extra vitamin C - very important. Don't eat refined sugar, it depresses your immune system for at least six hours afterwards. In general, don't eat crap, if you can eat at all. Poor little man! :( Hope you get well, soon! :xoxo: Oh, and echinacea is useless after you already are sick, just FYI. Try to take as little aspirin as you can get away with without dying.

Tylenol Flu works wonders.

garlic oil is nature's antibiotic. you can buy garlic oil capsuls at any grocery store or drug store for fairly cheap and i swear it works for EVERYTHING! you just have to take a lot... when i'm sick, i'll take like, 4 capsuls at a time about 3 times a day. and drink so much orange juice and/ or grapefruit juice as you can hold without exploding. same with water.... do not let tomorrow come before you drink at least a gallon of water... do not go near alcohol, cigarettes, or any caffeine products... stay as still as possible- preferably in bed under the blankets.

after about 12 hours of not doing anything but drinking fluids and getting up to pee, take a hot bath with eucalyptus oil in the water. when you are done, completely dry off and put on clean jammies and go back to bed with all of your fluids within reach. i swear, tomorrow morning you will be feeling well enough to work... i'm a waitress- i can't work if i am sick (duh- don't want to cough or sneeze near people's food) so i know how you feel. sleep as much as possible- turn the ringers off if you can. good luck and i hope you feel better!

Jessica is right about that garlic thing. Tylenol flu makes you feel better, but it does nothing for the illness.

That's because there's no cure for the common cold/flu. You are just downgrading the symptoms as much as possible.

I know. But I subscribe to the theory that the fever in your body is your immune system fighting off the bug. (well, it's not a theory so much as a fact). So that bringing down the fever all the time is detrimental (of course, this does not apply when your fever is too high - also, it's almost impossible not to take something sometime when you are sick).

This is true. :)

So, we conclude that everything that has been stated just helps the symptoms...but it doesn't cure anything.....the cold goes away in about 7 days...either you suffer through it or do home remedies to mask the symptoms for awhile. :wavey:

Yeah, I guess. Although I think with extra vitamins and stuff, your body could ward it off faster.
*says the girl who is never hardly sick* :p

I take a vitamin everyday and I'm sick a lot. You win. I suck at health. -_-

StevieNicksEO17 09-06-2005 08:22 PM

I'm sick too. One girl on the team got sick, and the rest of us got sick. My throat is killing me. I never get sick in the summertime. What's up with this?

What a pussy!

Just kidding... hope you feel better soon. Have you tried Zicam? You spray it in your nose, it's totally homeopathic and it shortens the duration of your cold. Worked for me last winter, instead of being sick for a week I was only sick for a couple of days. Take some heavy meds before bed so you can sleep... I think getting a lot of sleep is just about the best thing you can do.

Dr. Andrew Weil says use the whole fresh cloves when you can. I buy them already peeled, and either cut them small and swallow them down like pills, or I press them into glasses of vegetable juice. Or just eat lots of soup with fresh garlic in it. Onions also work. Garlic is an anti-fungal and will kill intestinal parasites. Besides that it's good eats!!

Sleep, sleep, sleep. Then rest a little. Then go back to sleep. It is the single best way to get better. The body repairs/heals itself only during rest. I'm all for Tylenol Cold or Flu - they work wonders at easing the pains/chills/sinus headache. And the Nighttime one will help you rest.

Hope you feel better soon, - it does definitely suck to be sick. Another tip, wash your hands everytime you blow your nose (you'll limit the re-infection process around your own home) and don't just toss the tissues on your nightstand. Put them in the garbage - again, just limits the re-infection process.

PS Amber, I agree, taking extra C does seem to strengthen one's immune system. I take 500mg of C everyday; I stopped for a few months to see what would happen, and I started to catch every cold around!
