Boycott Gas

I know this has been discussed before, and I don't think it ever happened..but seems to me it would work.. They said on the news that gas prices will not go down unless there is a sudden drop in demand, so why can't everyone get together on one day and try to drop the demand?

I've been gettign this message from everyone :

"Dont Buy gas on September 3rd!!!!
Boycotting the gas company will decrease the price dramatically. Ive checked into it and if over half the US didnt buy gas for 1 day, the gas companys would be close to bankrupcy!!! So Lets show them how to lower gas prices. So repost this to all your friends. We have to get the word out. Its NATIONAL DONT BUY GAS DAY!!!
So repost it!!!

And yes

GAS PRICES SUCK"

One day wouldn't do a thing. And besides, people would just fill up the night before the boycott.

I'm IN. It's not only afffecting the auto probs, my electricity bill has gone up about 50% this summer. When was the last time they raised minimum wage? How are the senior citizens keeping up? They use their entire paycheck/ss check for meds, but may not be able to continue picking them up 'cause they can't afford the gas to get there!

Okay, I won't buy any gas that day....haHAA!
;)

*i never buy gas.*

I wish they would do that over here.
Petrol prices are insane, I payed 1.34 euro last Monday per LITER. That's about the same in dollars.
The thing that I'm curious about is why the prices in The States are so low, you pay about 60 eurocents per LITER.

I've always been able to manage on a budget of 40 euro's a month on petrol, but I think if this keeps on going I have to spend some more. Driving less is difficult since I have to drive to work.

It won't, this has gone around in the past and according to snopes.com won't do a thing. However, if we all boycott Exxon Mobile and get gas elsewhere that *might* do something.

Are you guys moaning about the price of petrol again?! LMAO ;);)

boycotting gas probably wont do a damn thing.... people need to start buying hybrids... its the only way for consumers to keep gas consumption low... look to Toyota and Honda to start the trend (actually, they already have)

Yes but unfortunatly the average person cannot afford a hybrid. I looked into it when I got my new car. They were at least $30,000. There is no way in hell I could afford one of those. I can't even afford the car I have and it was almost have that price.

J.D. Power Associates has reported that the advertised fuel-saving of hybrids is greatly inflated by the manufacturers, anyway. The EPA even agrees. Another interesting thing is that because of the extra weight that hybrids carry, they consume more fuel when being driven on flat country roads in comparison to regular cars. Hybrids are great, but it's still going to take a long time before they're truly effective. I believe that Toyota said they're a good four or five years ahead of the other companies in terms of hybrid technology development.
