Your favourite albums by decade: The 60s
I thought it might be fun to name our top 10 favourite albums by decade.
I think it should be albums other than the Mac/Stevie/Lindsey etc because I'm assuming they would fill most people's top 10's and that might get a little boring. So here's mine for the 60s: 1. The Velvet Underground & Nico 2. The Byrds - Sweetheart Of The Rodeo 3. Rolling Stones - Beggar's Banquet 4. The Who - Tommy 5. Bob Dylan - Highway 61 Revisited 6. The Stooges 7. Love - Forever Changes 8. Led Zeppelin II 9. Captain Beefheart - Trout Mask Replica 10. The Band There are so many I've left out too! |
Jefferson Airplane - Surrealistic Pillow
Bob Dylan - all Simon and Garfunkle - forgot the names Aretha Franklin - forgot. :D oh, whoops, sorry. |
1- (tie) Beatles (all of 'em)
2- Jimi Hendrix Electric Ladyland 3- Rolling Stones Beggars Banquet 4- Rolling Stones Let It Bleed 5- Miles Davis Bitches Brew 6- Cream Wheels Of Fire 7- Bob Dylan Highway 61 Revisited 8- Blind Faith Blind Faith 9- John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers w/Eric Clapton the beano album 10-The Challengers Surf Beat |

Mine is definitely Let It Be, but it just missed out on the top 10. |
1) The Velvet Underground & Nico
2) Jefferson Airplane - Surrealistic Pillow 3) Nico - Chelsea Girl That's all that comes to mind now.. |
Well - The Beatles albums, of course...
EXCEPT for Let It Be - because it wasn't released in the 60s - it was released in 1970 :p |
I forgot the Doors - Waiting for the Sun.

1. Led Zep II
2. Led Zep I 3. It's A Beautiful Day- It's A Beautiful Day 4. Creedence Clearwater Revival- Green River 5. The Stooges-The Stooges 6. The Who-Tommy 7. Beach Boys- Pet Sounds 8. Velvet Underground & Nico 9. Golden Earring -On the double 10. Shocking Blue- At Home. 11. Beatles- Revolver I left out Boudewijn de Groot and Cuby & the Blizzards' Groeten uit Grolloo. Dutch masterpieces, but I chose Golden Earring as the only dutch record in the top ten. They do have SOME name abroad.... Okay so I skipped the beatles to 11. Couldn't live with the absence of another Dutch masterpiece. Shocking Blue's Venus is The only song EVER to hit billboards nr 1 three times!!!!! (first time on February 7, 1970, second time on June 20, 1981 by "Stars On 45"; third time on September 6, 1986 by Bananarama). And it's dutch friends, dutch. |
The Doors - The Doors/Strange Days/Waiting For The Sun
The Beatles - (all) Revolver/White Album/Sgt. Pepper/Magical Mystery Tour/Abbey Road Janis Joplin - I Got Dem Ol' Kozmic Blues Again Mama!/Cheap Thrills Jefferson Airplane - Surrealistic Pillow The Who - Tommy |

I've only got Chelsea Girl and The Velvet Underground & Nico.
John Cale really stuck with her over the years but I was always wary of her other albums that didn't feature the Velvets. Any recommendations for her other stuff? |
