Like or Dislike: Some Become Strangers

Good song. Not great. Not bad. Just good. Never realized she didn't write this - I'm slow sometimes. :sorry: Who the hell is latelevision?

The rhythm of this song makes it fun to sing along with:

"Thing is
Time was
Part of me used to love you
Part of me still does
This light here
Some become strangers"

In general, I'm a big fan of her vocal - nice & smooth, understated & quiet without being too raspy. Although I
can't stand the way she sings:

"I don't really need this in my life"

Too squeaky.

She can leave this out of her setlist forever, as far as I'm concerned. Just not a song I'm dying to hear in concert.

I agree, it's nothing to become crazy about. Just another decent piece of filler on RAL, like "Imperial Hotel", but I never skip it. Although I do like the loud "Baby you's!" at the end, probably a cheap gimmick but it does work.

strangers...

I love this song-
Happened like a Hurricaine!!!

What I hear is a very strong love song about a passion, whirlwind, type romance that she does not want to really let go of (sound familar?)
And is so afraid that "your soul will become a stranger" ....
I know she didn't write it...but listening to the lyrics...she could have!

But I agree, I don't really care for the end either- The "I don't really need this in my life" is so not part of the song- Sounds like she just ad-libbed and threw it in.? But I don't change the dial when its on..
~~just me though

I like it. One of my faves off of RAL.

Ha, that part always makes me laugh, so I like it. I'm not saying it's good, I'm just saying I like it.
Yep, this song is pretty good, the rhythm of it makes me like it more than any of it's other "virtues". It has an offish backkick I like. Catchy, I say. Ho****, I forgot about the

BABYYO!!!!!

that's really why I like it quite a bit. and the "yonostrangernotthatiam". That part cracks me up.

I'm not so crazy about it but I do like the lyrics a lot.

I like the first minute of the song and then need to skip it.

Some were always strangers

I have always liked this song, though it's appeal has faded in recent years. I would have much preferred an additional Stevie-penned tune instead of this one.... It does fit the RAL theme rather well, however, and all things considered, it is one of the better songs that she sang but didn't write.

I am not crazy about this song. However, I do like it better than If I Were You.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this song! Can I just mention how much I love this song? I love it so much I'm going to marry it :-p. It is actually one of my top 10 Stevie songs and one of the main reasons I adore RAL so much. I was crushed when I found out she didn't write it but the thing is, to me the lyrics are very Stevie none the less. "Let your soul become a stranger" is totally Stevie to me. And the music....oh I just love the energy.

It also has sentimental meaning - when I first became a huge Stevie fan about 3 years ago I was going through a break-up and this kind of became my song for my ex even though she never knew about it. You know every time I hear the lyrics I think of some ex lover, there's just something about it that's totally relateable. "Part of me used to love you part of me still does". It's a song that I love lyrically just as much as musically and that doesn't always happen. How funny that people don't like the "I don't really need this in my life. Why don't we forget about it!" part. I think it's fabulous and totally adorable. I always say that part with her. In fact, I think I may have said that to some people in real life. Ok enough personal sh*t here you get the picture lol.

Bah & a humbug & a pox.

I love this frikkin' song. Always did love it. Back in my stalk-Stevie-at-every-rock-concert days, a bunch of us actually went to a concert by the lady who sang "Luka" . . . forget her name . . . because the Williams Brothers, who wrote it, were opening for her. They sang "Some Become Strangers" but alas Stevie did not appear. This was in a theater in Los Angeles, like the Wiltern. We were hoping against hope that Madame Nicks would help out these young songwriters by appearing at their performance.

Really really like it, not love though.

Each of her first 3 albums seamed to have 1 song that was purposely suppose to sound FMish (BD has several) and this was the one on RAL. Another reason why I really really like it.

Nice bouncy bass n deftly played oomphish drums, nice clear vocal, very smooth, doesnt really fit in witht he rest of the sound on RAL though.
