Woman with 150 pound Tumor

I was watching TLC last night and there was this special on a woman with a 150 pound tumor. When I saw this I thought I was going to be sick, But i felt so bad for her. They flew in special doctors from the US to somewhere in Europe (forget) to do an operation on her. She was very happy and in high spirits. They took us into the operation room. Surgery took about 6 hours which was considered short. It was crazy, there were these massive blood vessels feeding the tumour blood keeping it alive. Then when they got it off her they rested it on a table and it was seeping this black stuff. BLECH.

Anyway did anyone see this?

I think I saw this - almost as bad as the guy with the undeveloped twin inside his abdomen.

I saw this. Was this the one where the tumor started on her back and then grew around? I'm pretty sure it's the same one. To see that woman before, during and after is unreal. The thought of such an invasive growth is fright.en.ing and really scares the ****ake out of me. It was gross and I couldn't help but think about the nastiness that is a tumor. YUCK

When I first saw the lady they were walking into her hospital room and it was like hanging off the bed. My mouth dropped!!!

Ew!!

How do you go that long to let it get to 150 pounds? If I had a lump or something on my arm and it was little, I would be at the doctor's office immediately saying, cut it out, whatever it is! LOL

That was my first thought, how on earth did it grow to this size? And black stuff oozing out? Eww eww eww! I'm going to vomit.

from what I remember, the tumor grew quickly while doctors and hospitals tried to test it and figure out exactly what to do

It's really hard to top the guy with the undeveloped twin in his stomach. I remember how his parents just assumed he was fat all his life, and then that was discovered. I didn't think such a thing was possible before I saw that show! And then it was so freaky to see it--it looked like a person, to a degree. It kind of reminded me of that baby that was in the paper a few months ago (can't remember what country it was or any useful details) who had an extra head attached to her. The extra head had eyes that actually moved and blinked, and I believe it smiled. Very, very strange to me.

I think I saw the special with that woman, too. My mom watches these things and I sometimes get sucked in watching them with her.

OMG - that is one disturbing story *shudder*

Wow that is frightening! I wonder how fast it grew, like 5 lbs a day? I mean, how long were they testing and such? Yikes.

A lot of it had to do with blood loss. It kept growing and they tried to operate on her and she was losing massive amounts of blood so they had to stop the surgery. This time around 150 units of blood were donated so they wouldn't run out. Also if i remember correctly this family was on the poor side and probably couldn't afford an expensive operation at that time, so I think they had to save up.
