Holy crap, I finally finished my Master's.
Well, today I took my final exam in topology, the last math class I needed to graduate w/ a master's in math (with an emphasis in math education). I can't believe it's actually over, since I started the program in freakin' 2001  . But I ended up getting certified and getting a full-time job before I finished, so I had to go part-time.
Anyway, it feels weird to actually be done. Like, no more classes after teaching a full day of school? No more driving out every day through 15 miles or so of cornfields? No more comprehensive exams? It's a little bittersweet too--I've made a lot of friends in the math department and I'm going to miss them now that I won't be seeing them on a regular basis, working as a teaching assistant in the summers, etc. I hope somehow we'll keep in touch. Funny story--I was walking up the steps to my apartment today and my new neighbor Jessica was walking into her place at the same time--we started chatting because she had heard I was a teacher and she's a counselor, and it turns out she just finished up her master's today too!!! LOL So I had to high-five her. :D We probably both attended the same university, for our terms to end on the same day. But still, small world. Anyway, this was a super boring post :sorry: and I don't expect anyone to care, but it's a milestone for me so I couldn't help it. Have a great weekend everyone! :o |
Congratulations! :woohoo:

boring?! no, that's great you made it! I admire that.
Congratulations :woohoo: |
Of course we care!
What a fantastic achievement! Congrats! :D |
ooh... Now we can ask all those annoying Math questions. :D
|
Thanks so much you guys! :o

Can you prove these for me? Been bugging me lately... :p
The Clay Mathematics Institute (http://www.claymath.org/millennium/) of Cambridge, Massachusetts (CMI) has named seven "Millennium Prize Problems," selected by focusing on important classic questions in mathematics that have resisted solution over the years. A $7 million prize fund has been established for the solution to these problems, with $1 million allocated to each. The problems consist of the Riemann hypothesis, Poincaré conjecture, Hodge conjecture, Swinnerton-Dyer Conjecture, solution of the Navier-Stokes equations , formulation of Yang-Mills theory , and determination of whether NP-problems are actually P-problems. :xoxo: :D |
My hat is off to ANYONE who can get thru ONE math class much less get a MASTER'S in MATH! Woo Hoo for you! :wavey:

^ I certainly agree with Mary.
Congratulations Lisa! That is quite a feat! You must celebrate a lot! :xoxo: :) |

That's awesome and something you should really be proud of. I start my master's classes in a couple of weeks and I am so nervous I could puke. I guess it's just because I don't know what to expect, but at the same time I'm excited to further myself hopefully and move in a new direction in the next couple of years.

That? IS AWESOME!!! Congratulations...!!!! :blob1:
