Mysterious dress, Civil War Stand Back?

We're trying to figure out this mystery on another board... This dress is hanging at the Hard Rock Hotel in Tampa, Florida. It was supposedly worn in the "original version" of the Stand Back video. We've reviewed the video, but Stevie only appears to be wearing a green dress. Can anyone provide insight to this mystery dress?

SB Dress

WOW, that dress sure is beautiful, I can just see it on Stevie, but I did not "see it on Stevie"
in the SB video? Where does the Hard Rock get their details, I wonder? I would love to see her in this piece of finery.

Blessings, everyone!~Barbara

I think Stevie wore that when she covered "La Isla Bonita."

She definitely doesn't wear it in the original "Stand Back." In that one, she only wears the green dress Daniel mentioned, and a pinkish/salmon-colored one at the cotillion where she meets her handsome suitor.

Is that the one from the Rooms On Fire video? Wasn't that dress red?

Yes, it was red... but that dress (which she wears as she dances on water with Brad Jeffries) is the same one she's wearing on the cover of 'The Other Side Of The Mirror.'

The style of that dress looks to be from the BTM era. I don't recall seeing anything like that in either video. It's not period enough to be used in the Civil War version, IMO. It must be a mistake.

I've seen a few photos of supposed clothing articles at the hard rock that are supposed to have belonged to her... and maybe they did... but were never worn... but I sometimes think they make **** up!

One of my favorites, too.

You know, Christy, I don't think I could possibly love you anymore than I already do. :xoxo:

>wondering< What if there is another version of the SB video that came before the civil war version...but we have not had the opportunity to see???

GODDESS6 08-02-2005 06:12 AM

it looks like a flamenco (*sp) dancer's dress    ~ i was just sitting here saturday night & was watching all my dloaded videos & that version of "stand back" was the last one i watched, i sure don't remember seeing that red dress  ~

Then perhaps the fan base should start a campaign to have "original version" videos released!!

We recently got a bunch of remasters with lots of good demos and outtakes. That's pretty good. I don't think that would have happened if the fans had never talked about it.

Just a thought... If the videos are even still around, that is.

I have seen several references to Stand Back as in :official release, civil war version AND concept versio - whatever that last one may be - maybe that's where she wore it...
Although, knowing SN as we do, she may have had it hanging in her closet and with the "mists of white" of her memory have thought she'd worn it somewhere but couldn't remember....
