Cool Christine

If we were to enumerate all the qualities that make Christine cool, what would we say?

amber 07-21-2005 08:57 PM

She's so cool, she's almost beyond naming her qualities. I would start with her voice, though. It's very cooooool. Like a popsicle on a hot summer day. It doesn't change, and it always sounds great. And it's so refreshing and pure. :)

I agree. I would also add her sense of humor and wit.

That ass-shaking thing she does when she's behind the keyboard is so cool.

I think you nailed it right there, Amber, perfect! Her voice is just perfection. I've yet to hear a vocal from her that is even slightly off. And she has such a stage presence, even just standing behind the keyboard (or anything, for that matter). She's absolutely amazing!

Homie is going to kill me for this, but I think the vocals for "Let Me Go" and "Homeward Bound" are sub-par. Actually, I think "Let Me Go" just sounds bad. :( I have several tapes of many entire songs that I cannot sing at all, though. I've been there. I was also listening to some boot from '79 during which "Say You Love Me" sounded off-key in some places. Nobody's Perfekt. :o

I know, I know. This thread is supposed to be about why she's cool. I still think the ass-shaking is cool, among many other things!

I Love her dry sense of humor.

macfan 57 07-22-2005 05:39 AM

I would say her sense of humor, lack of pretention & class make her a very cool lady. She has little or no ego; I, myself despise arrogance. She was always a team player in Fleetwood Mac.

As for her voice, it's perfection now. It wasn't back in her Christine Perfect days & her very early Fleetwood Mac years. I think she had a bit of a problem with her voice, especially live. But, she got better & better, with practice. The cool thing about her is that she would admit that this is true.

I couldn't agree more! (It's so very cool how you took what I said and turned into something positive! :) ) I'm really attracted to a woman who isn't pretentious and can admit to not being perfect. That is all too rare from famous pop and rock stars, isn't it?

I second all of that.

Like a fine wine her voice has got better with age.

Anyone who call one of her own songs "a perky little ditty" is OK by me!

Gail

PS she should do more twirling though!

Chris is the ultimate in cool. Great hair, cool clothes, amazing songs, unique voice...good sense of humor....never stuck up or arrogant....she quit a band to be w/ her husband..she joined a band to be w/ her husband... ;) ...and even when the marriage thing didn't quite work out, she still always made him sound like a pretty good guy. I admire that. :xoxo:

And he her. Pretty classy.

I loved watching her dance behind the keyboards.

She was like an icon over to the left, or right sometimes on the stand up piano.

But truly an icon on the stage. Sorely missed!

To these old ears, there is good off-key & there is bad off-key -- although I'd have trouble positing an argument or even an explanation for one & not the other. There is some reason why I prefer the off-keyness of "Oh Daddy" 11-06-79 ("good" off-key) to the off-keyness of Stevie's whole Timespace tour (very bad off-key). The reason probably has something to do with elements besides tone, such as timbre, head vs. chest, texture, etc.

She has a direct and intelligent gaze.
