Moving, Dog Vomit and other various pleasantries.

So I moved this weekend - into a new apartment.

It's a FABULOUS place - way bigger than my old one, and cheaper - and it has an air-conditioner, which my old place did not - and it was getting downright nasty in there with the heat and humidity we've been having here.

Anyway - the move has done a number on my poor dog. I got her a special treat our first night at the new place - and as luck would have it - it made her totally sick. I think it was combo of that and nerves - but around 7 in the morning she climbs into my bed, puts her head on my stomach which at first I think is cute -then she hacks and vomits on me :distress:

I get up to discover dog vomit on the couch and in various places on the floor throughout the apartment.

It was gross.

So fast forward to yesterday evening. I am once and for all going to get serious about shedding some pounds and eating better - so I thought I'd have one last hurrah! I got a Peanut Butter Dream Bar at Mrs. Fields Cookies - I had that, along wtih a mini-chocolate chip cookie in the little paper bag - I set it down - went to get a glass of milk - I came back and all that I found was a small sliver of the bag and Clancy looking all sorry and pathetic.

I was so mad - then panicked because she'd eaten chocolate. So I called the animal emergency line and then told me to induce vomiting which apparently can be done with hydrogen peroxide.

It was ugly. She threw up A LOT! mostly outside- but when I thought she was done I was mistaken....and well lets just say Clancy and I had a rocky start in our new apartment.

On another note - I am LOVING the new Harry Potter. And Willy Wonka reminded me of Michael Jackson and freaked me out.

Good day to you all :D

Ah, the joys of being a pet owner. It's all worth it though, as you already know.

Oh it totally is  I love my moo - and though it was a gross pain in the ass cleaning up the dog vomit - I was also feeling so bad for her - she was just not feeling good yesterday...poor thing - today she seems to be back to normal - is eating and drinking and playing...good thing because I did not want to make a trip to the vet this week.

Gotta love the pupsters

Now I am so glad, my weekend was boring!!

Warmest wishes on your new home!, and dogs get very nervous with changing situations-furniture-etc. So I am sure Clancy will calm down and adjust to the new place. It's all the different smells-They don't know what to make of it... Imagine how frightning it must be to them??

I know all I have to do is pull out the suitcases and my dog starts acting uncomfortable- :p :p
Have a better week

Damn, it's been quite the weekend for you two. Glad things have calmed down a bit. Congrats on the new place! Is it far from the old one?

GypsySorcerer 07-18-2005 10:05 AM

Sorry Clancy is having trouble. She'll be better soon, I'm sure. And congrats on your new place! :)

It is pretty far. The thing with my old place - it was like two blocks from total sketch-ville.

There are areas of this city which are just horrid- I don't even want to venture near there in daylight- and my old place was just too close for comfort - some of the sketchballs would walk through the neighborhood.

Also - I'm a complete tyrant when it comes to quiet and my old place was anything but. I could hear EVERYTHING my upstairs neighbor did - and there were two basketball-loving kids next door who also used to scream at the top of their lungs for fun :mad.

I hated it - OH! And it was right in the flight path of the airport - it was really really near the airport - so there was a lot of plane noise.

All in all I'm SO happy to be out of there. I'm in a nicer area with tons of young people and thus far it's been SO SO quiet...I am LOVING it.

I hope Clancy is better, but I must say your post made me LOL. What a way to wake up! And after all that, to say, On another note I am loving the new Harry Potter book. I'm changing your name to Pollydeanna.
And congratulations on the move. Aren't you tired of the snow yet?

Moving from Philly to Chicago or Chicago to Austin wasn't so bad for me, but after a July move from Austin to Houston four years ago I swore I would never move without movers again. And I was good to my word, even when I moved a few miles a year later. Worth every penny! Boxing stuff is unpleasant enough, but heavy lifting in heat is hell.

Pollydeanna - I like it  :D

And yeah - I have vowed to never move without movers again and to not put together furniture ever again :D

I only moved across town - but I hired movers - and yes, it was worth every penny - I stood and told them where to put things while they sweated and got gross and tired - and I stood nicely in my air-conditioned apartment.

I just went home at lunchtime to check on Clancy- and much to my happiness - no more dog vomit!! The spot on the couch is drying nicely and it doesn't appear to have permanently damaged anything. My poor moo....:distress:

I won't assemble furnture. I despise Ikea.

Hooray for AC. I have mine on all year. (Unlike Stevie, I don't keep the fire going at the same time.)

Glad Clancy is doing better. Tell her you're getting a new alarm clock & you will no longer be needing that service from her. :)

Yeah - as much as I love waking up to a pile of big smelly and lumpy dog vomit on me - I think I'd much rather have a blaring alarm wake me up :D

I'm sorry, Deanna, but this made me LOL too... I really am glad to hear Clancy is doing better. Congrats on the new apartment. Hopefully you'll have better luck in it then you had the first weekend!

If you want to laugh at me now, my cat has something against Sara's furry tiger print blanket, and keeps peeing on it. I can't figure out how to wash it, so I threw it out. The smell in her bedroom made me gag. It was awful. At first I couldn't figure out where it was coming from, until I picked up the blanket, and the spot I grabbed to pick it up was the spot she peed on. Needless to say, I was "pissed off."

EWWW!! Cat piss is awful - a cat once peed in my car and it took forever to get that damn smell out.

That's weird that the cat kept peeing on it - weird, but amusing ;)

If a cat did that to my car it would take forever to get the smell of dead cat out. :)

When I was in college I came home to discover that our shih-tzu had decided he wanted my room to be his restroom. My mother insisted it was that he missed me. I guess absence makes the bladder grow fonder.
