Beautiful Child or Sara - Live on TV in 1979

I remember after Tusk came out, FM performed a live song on TV for a charitable cause (all proceeds from the song were to be donated to that cause). VCRs were not that prevalent at the time, so I doubt a tape exists. I thought it was Beautiful Child, but based on past rehearsals/performances from that era, it might have been Sara. Anyone recall?

a) i am not familiar with the performance you are asking about
b) all the proceeds from BC went to UNICEF as she gave them the copyright, so it would make more sense to me that it was BC and not Sara.

copies out there?

Yet another thing to put on our list in search of the Stevie/FM Holy Grail.

I don't think they ever performed "Beautiful Child" on TV for charity, although they donated the song's proceeds to UNICEF. There is video footage of Stevie on the Easter Seals Telethon in 1979 & she has a bad sore throat.

However, they were scheduled to appear on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert in 1980. I tuned in. Don introduced them as "the lady & band with a heart" because of the Easter Seals Telethon assistance, & then played "Sara" from the St. Louis film. Stevie did spots for both Easter Seals & Get Out The Vote, but she didn't perform. I forgot which was which, but one of these appearances was with Jack Klugman.

Not to be argumentative, but I don't think it was Don Kirschner's Rock Concert, which was televised late at night (at least in Indiana in 1979/80). It was televised during the summer months (in the summer months, the TV shows started at 7:00 pm since Indiana did not change time). It was a live performance (it was introduced by the emcee of the show, although it may have been a taped concert, perhaps "Sara" from St. Louis) and I thought the whole show was for the charity. My memory tells me it was "Beautiful Child" but 25 years is a long time ago.

i remember sitting in front of the TV for an entire weekend waiting for this.
it was easter seals telethon. i never got to see stevie - eithr I fell asleep or they didn't air her bit - but I do remember hearing it was Beautiful Child.
Someone should write the Nicksfix - they'll uncover the mystery.

That would be so awesome if it was beautiful child. But on the SYW shows she said this is one of those songs she never thought she'd be able to do live so Im guessing it wasn't but hey who knows.

Why email nicksfix they dont know sh*t.

Yeah, and we all know how accurate and spot-on Stevie's memory is! :) More so than Stevie, I believe ardent fans have a more precise handle on the details of her career than she does. Sometimes she can't even get the year right when recalling the year an album was released. One time I heard her struggle to recall when Rock A Little was released. If we were to believe her...it would be 1984. I've learned, after more than 30 years of following her, that you can't hold everything she says as fact. Those "long nets of white" really do cloud her memory!
