Purging of Older Messages...
 

Just a note that on Sunday I am going to close the boards down for a bit and purge messages in the Chit Chat forum from 2002 and 2003. I have had some difficulty making complete backups of the forums lately as the database is now approaching 500 megabytes in size. As the discussions on the Chit Chat forum are not the focus of The Penguin, I am going to free up some space here so that everything else can comfortably grow. Chit Chat messages from 2004 and 2005 will, however, remain.

hmm, now i have to find something to do tomorrow while the Ledge is down... ahh, will watch the Dance!

I don't suspect it will be down for more than 30 minutes...probably in the morning or early afternoon.

This has been completed...about 16,000 posts were removed. If you see any problems with the board, please let me know. Thanks.

Did this mess up everyone's post count...or those who have been around for a long time?

Post counts reflect the number of posts in the current database so some individuals would see a decrease. I'm not sure it messed it up though...it is an accurate reflection of what is actually here.

I see a few people including myself went down but no worries -- i'm sure with all of the old posts taking up a significant amount of bandwith, it's much better this way :nod:

It it totally worth it but, wow. Mine went down almost 1,000 posts:)
