This is not a review, but basically just some interesting observations:
-The turnout was surprisingly strong- it's a rather large shed and it was pretty much filled to capacity. I suspect there were lots of comps from radio stations and giveaways to military personnel, but still...
-Great audience... DC hasn't had their Nicks fix for a long time- over two years! So they were really into the show. It was the most racially diverse audience I've ever seen at a FM/Nicks show.
-After a couple of morose performances in AC, she was back to form. Still not as jubilant as she was on the Two Voices shows, but still fun-loving, playful and full of energy. Her voice sounded a little rough in spots but she still sounded terrific. Once again, "Circle Dance" was the centerpiece and got a good response since Bonnie Raitt is legendarily popular in the DC area.
-In her dedication preceding HAEWAFY she mentioned visiting Walter Reed Veterans Hospital on Friday and saying how she entered there a single woman, but left there as a sister, a mother and a wife... and with only half of her heart. And she implored the audience to take time out to visit the "boys and girls" that were wounded in Iraq, and how they gave everything of themselves for the country. I was hoping she would take a firm political stance about this horrible, ridiculous war at this point... but she held back and just stopped the dedication there. It was very touching and very sad...
-The "Baby, baby, baby..." bit is back at the end of GDW. However, now it's "Baby, baby, baby... you can't SAVE me now. You can't SAVE me now..." And towards the end she gestures with her hands while repeating the words "Snow... snow... snow..." while hunched over the mic. Spooky!
-I held Mama's hand again :) during the Edge Rush. It's almost too predicable now.
-The "Rock n Roll" dance is a little different. Less of the Elvis shake-shimmy thing, more of a punchy, Tae-bo kind of thing. In fact, she was doing lots of punching... even play-boxing with Waddy during the band intros. The woman's got issues!
Dat's all, kids. :)
