Charlotte, NC Review

OMG!!!

That is about all I can say. This was my first Stevie concert... well, actually this was my first concert ever! So, needless to say--I started at the top!
Not only did I get to see a concert--I got to see my hero! STEVIE EFFIN NICKS! The whole way there I was so hyper. Could hardly contain myself! I wasn't going to get to go, but @ 5 I finally just said "Give me the credit card. I'm going-- hell or high water."

And... I went.

The concert was great--but, there was TONS of drinking!! I mean tons!!

I was also kinda sad she didn't use the tambo.
But, all the dancing she did made up for it-- BIG TIME.

*I'll revise this later when I can remember stuff better. It's been forever since I've slept.*

Uhm... We got there @ 7... the show started @ 8...
Oh... and we got there without tickets.
I didn't bring a camera because the website said they weren't allowed...
Well, they were!! Oh well, at least I was there.

So, I drove 2 1/2 hours to get there...
Didn't have to pay to park... (?) Was weird.

I walked up to the box office and I said, give me your best ones.
I got in Section 1 or 3 (blurry minded) lol--Row L. Great seats!!!

Vanessa Carlton was surprisngly refreshing.
She said "I'm not Stevie Nicks... I just like to dress like her."
She also said the "GD" word. I was shocked.
She played the "uncensored" version of "White Houses" and proceeded to tell us how all they have on MTV now is ass. lol
When she played that one song--I don't know the name of it--"A Thousand Miles"--she stopped and said--"Yes, I'm that girl."

Of all the bootlegs and pictures I've seen from this tour... tonight was the best.
She looked absoultely stunning... every outfit!
The only thing was her eyes. They looked tired.
She did sing most songs with them shut, but her voice and energy were through the roof.
I don't remember for which song, but she did a REALLY, REALLY, REALLY HIGH KICK--I mean, her foot was over her head. It was awesome.

She didn't do many twirls though. I was a little disappointed about that. But overall, she was perfect.

*I don't remember all the song right now, but I will later, so I will just post what I do remember.*

She also did her Hula Dance thing. It was cute. And I love the way she talks! She's so softspoken and cute!! But yet powerful!
It's just something to be in the same room with her.

During "Rock and Roll" she started dancing like Elvis. It was really neat to see her break out like that. She smiled the WHOLE time. She just went all out on this song. It was incredible!

She did have trouble keeping her hair out of her face. She would move little strands back here and there. I guess it was the Southern humidity.

EO17- The "OoooooohAhhhh" was held out forever!!! At the end she said something, but I couldn't hear over all of the people shouting.
They wouldn't let us go up there for the walk, which sucked! Only the people in the front rows got to go. I was told to go back to my seat.
Somehow, the girl beside me got to touch her and she came back all giddy. Ugh! lol
Someone handed her a beer during the walk. They were crowding the stage like crazy. She had to tell them to move back. :distress:

What was really cute though, after the walk she stood up and grabbed her back and like made an exhausted face and then just laughed.

I wish I coulda been up there to look her in the eyes. That would have been awesome. You couldn't see her eyes very much... even on the big screens.

I have seen that usually she puts on a dress/skirt for BATB... well she didn't this time.
After she ripped the top hat off (after "RnR")
and kinda shook her hair out, she left the stage and came back with the big coat thing for BATB.
I looked and she still had on the leather pants. It was neat.
Nobody but Stevie.

Another thing that was funny... I saw her come out of the shadows with the top hat and I started screaming before anyone could see her.
Then they all went crazy!!! She loved it. You could tell.

I screamed before and after each song... but during them, I was completely mesmerized.
It was unbelievable. I'm thinking about going to Florida now.

Circle Dance and Landslide were beautfiul. Before she sang Circle Dance, she said something like "This next song belongs to a good friend of mine named Bonnie Raitt. She wrote it about ten years ago, but I just heard it last year and sitting in my living room listening to it... I knew I wanted to sing it someday, and I'd like to sing it for you tonight." IMO, I could see Lindsey all over her face while she sang it. :)

My favorite part was when she introduced Landslide.
She said, "This next song has nine lives. It's like a cat." Then, she looked over towards Waddy and said in a weird accent, "This song is like a cat... it's like a cat." Then she did this hissing noise and made a gesture with her hand.
It was really funny. They also had the "Sometimes It's a Bitch" video playing in the background while she sang Landslide.
When she pauses between "snow covered hills", she looked over at Waddy first and then at Sharon.
She really didn't seem to know what to do without Lindsey playing that with her. :(

I forget which song it is, but she talks about the men in her life being "poets" yadda yadda... you know what I'm talking about...
Well, it was funny because when she said "And when she's asked about the men in her life..."
THE CROWD WENT CRAZY!
She just stood there grinning for a few second. It was priceless.

Another highlight was the band intro.
She, once again, introduced Sharon as "Goddess Teacher" saying she taught them all their parts and that they have been friend since 78(?).
She introduced the "little blonde" (Jana) as their own little ball of love. *GAG*
She introduced Waddy as the love of her life. lol. They seem to get on pretty well... maybe a little too well if you ask me!
She introduced Taku as the best percussionist in the world... and how he went through 150 something of FM shows.
The drummer guy (sorry it's late) as the "best hair in the band."
And I can't remember the rest. lol.
Something about a sexy guitar and how he also went thru the FM shows... and the other guy having to make sure she got out on stage every night... she said something to the effect of "As you ALL know, there was a really bad time in my life... but this guy was there to make sure I got out on stage every night." It seemed really heartfelt.

Ugh! I should have taken pen and paper. I was just too wrapped up in the emotion.
I even cried when I first saw her. Not like freak-out crying, but I was just so happy and screaming and jumping up and down that a few little trickles made it to the ends of my eyes...

Oh yeah--at the end when they all bow, they were doing a leg shaking thing. I don't know the story behind that, but it was cute, nonetheless!

Then she closed with "I LOVE YOU ALL! You could have been anywhere else, but you were here and we love you for that."
Or something like that...

I REALLY hope there are bootlegs and pics of this show. I should have gotten something! I was just too chicken! UGH!!!

Anywho...
I have heard speculation as to whether or not the "Birds of Rhiannon" are real...
Well, they are!
And yes, that's a black lace bra! It showed A LOT tonight!

Thanks for the recap... That was great.... I wanna see one of these damn shows!!!

DeeGeMe 07-10-2005 07:12 AM

I was in the seventh row. And I was able to make it to the stage during EOS but only because GoldDustWoman77 (we had exchanged seat numbers/rows via PM prior to yesterday & she and her hubby came over and we talked for a long time--my first real-life fellow-Ledgie meeting--she and her hubby are both sweethearts!). Anyway, Goldie was sitting 2 rows up from me and in the center (I was near the aisle), and she and I charged up to the front at the same time. And she grabbed my hand and pulled me up to the front, (even though the security guards tried to keep us back as the band was doing the extended intro into EOS). Finally, the guards let us past and we were able to make our way up to the front of the stage--and I GOT TO SHAKE HANDS WITH STEVIE! Thanks Goldie for "paving the way" and getting me through that crowd!

Anyway, I've been a FM/Stevie fan since I was 10 years old and the "White Album" came out. I've seen Stevie a couple of times before on prior tours, but this was the first time I got so close. And not only did I have great seats, I got to shake her hand!!!! (Did I mention that I got to shake her hand?).

I've been a fan since 1975, when the White Album came out. I was intrigued that there were two women in this band and I just fell in love with the sound of Stevie's voice. I was 10 at the time so the fact that I got to shake hands with Stevie after 30 years of fandom. . . oh my God--there are no words!!!! So thank you Goldie for getting us to the front of that crowd and thank you to the security guards who finally chilled out and let us up there. By the way, once we got there, the security guards let us stay for the encores which was beyond awesome. The only negative note was that there were two insane women right behind us who kept screaming, "We Love You Stevie" and drowning her out during BATB. I've now been rendered deaf by their incessant screeching. (If you love her so much then shut the hell up so we can hear her sing, okay?)

Other notes: It was super hot and humid (hey, it's the South) and it did seem to be bothering Stevie a bit--she was "glistening". But she looked amazing. She seemed to have a lot of energy and I do remember her twirling (I counted 12) during one song but for the life of me, I can't remember which one now).

Vanessa Carlton came out and joined the back-up singers on Rock and Roll which was great. Also, Vanessa is very funny. She kept cracking one liners. At one point she talked about how great Stevie's fans were and said, "I swear I'm not ass-kissing."

I saw a surprising number of folks in the crowd with "Ceasar's Palace" t-shirts on (come on admit it--y'all were showing off that you got to go Vegas and the rest of us didn't!). I also saw one kid with a vintage Wild Heart t-shirt on and there was no way that this kid was even born when that album came out (He looked about 12 or 13). In fact, I saw a LOT Of vintage FM & Stevie shirts in the crowd.

No, the tour books are still not ready (I'm majorily bummed about that) and I noticed that they were using Fanfire bags which makes me wonder if maybe the tour books (if they ever get done) will be avialable via Fanfire.com later on.

And can we please do a fund-raiser to buy food for Sharon? Damn is she skinny! I'm convinced she starved to death years ago and they just managed to keep her skeleton singing backup. And oh yeah, Jana totally has the "moves" down.

There's lots more but it's early and I'm still tired. Thrilled beyond words, but tired--LOL!

SweetGirl24 07-10-2005 09:18 AM

I had a Wild Heart shirt on!! haha...I was in the front row...and Im not a boy, so I guess it wasn't me that you saw! I'll post my own things later....glad you made it and enjoyed it!

Macfanforever 07-10-2005 10:09 AM

I'm glad you made it and enjoyed Stevie ,I still remember my first Stevie concert over 30 Stevie/FM concerts ago.hey she's the best..

Did Stevie make any referance at all to the attacks on London? I'd be suprised if she didn't...

Great reviews! That 9 lives and cat comment about Landslide cracked me up! I'd love to hear a boot of this!

Congrats DeeGeMe, on the handshake! I'm tellin' y'all, this tour should be called "The Ledgies Finally Getting to Shake Stevie's Hand" tour... :blob2:

She didn't. She just said at the end of the show something like "Take care of each other, love each other, that's so important in the world today." or something like that. Then she said "we love you."

I ditto all that! It was sooo awesome to finally meet someone from the community here. DeeGeMe, you are a real sweetie and lots of fun. It was wonderful meeting you and meeting you made the concert even more enjoyable. I'm glad that you got to shake Stevie's hand, since I got to shake it in Atlanta. I was thrilled for you, and I'm always glad to help a fellow fan. I wasn't going to the stage without you!

I won't go into major details, since the previous posts filled everyone in. I will throw out my opinions on the show though. The concert was amazing! The highlight of the evening was the finale of "Rock N Roll" by Led Zeppelin and "Beauty and the Beast." I was soooooooooo excited that Stevie performed in a top hat with a big red plume coming out of the back for "Rock N Roll." I have seen Stevie several times with the Mac and without, and I have never seen her live with a top hat on, only in pictures. As a matter of fact, this is a hat that she has been photographed in before. It is similar to this one. She tore up that stage on this song---really into it, full out energy, and performance!
http://www.nicksfix.com/hat.jpg

"Beauty and the Beast" was terrific as well. It was just as awesome as it was in Atlanta. She closed the show with it, and it brought the house down. She still did the candelabra on the piano with a gold shawl underneath. She wore the black velvet, Elizabethan cape again, but this time she didn't wear the black dress under it. She had on a black, spaghetti-strapped top with the "infamous" black, studded stretch pants! That was interesting, and different from Atlanta. She definitely nailed the voices on this. Totally beautiful, and she still had the perfect backdrop video, La Belle et la bête, the original beauty and the beast movie from 1946. It is just perfect since she whispers the title in the song toward the end. I guess this film must have inspired the song.

Also, I was really sad to see that she didn't do "I Need to Know." :( I will say that the backdrop video she did for "Landslide" was great. It was photos and clips of her from childhood to present. It was like a timeline of her life. It was neat. She made a joke about "Landslide." She said it was the song that just wouldn't go away, and it had nine lives. Then, she made a hissing noise and scratched with her hand like a cat. It was cute.

All in all, it was a wonderful night---great show with great company! :blob1: :blob2:

Did you have on aqua blue pants? If so you stood right in front of Dee and me while we sat and talked! If we had only known, we could have all talked. I'm blonde and I had on this tour's black Stevie, babydoll top with her name and the dove on it, a black, prarie skirt, and a gold moon, pendant necklace. You and your friend stood together, and I think she had on a vintage Stevie shirt as well. It is funny, because as you stood there. Dee and I talked about how neat your shirt was. You probably looked right at us. How weird!

I think that I was sitting right behind you.
I wore a FM Dance shirt... There were two ladies in front of me... and a guy... but then they left for their seats I am guessing...

Was that you sitting there? Neat.

I was sitting in Section 2, Row H Seats 15 and 16. My husband sat in Seat 15, and I was in 16. The people beside us came really, really late, and left really, really early. She was trashed! I was right in front of this guy who was with two of his friends---a guy and a girl. One of the guys had on a straw cowboy hat. Then, someone came in, and they moved down two seats, and there were new people sitting behind me. If it was me, I never sat down, not on one song, so you probably saw me. Also, my husband and I sat with Dee and talked with her before Vanessa Carlton started. Then, we went to our real seats. Dee was in Section 1, Row K--Seat 23 or 24? It was on the end. You have to let me know, if you were near me, so I can remember which guy you were.

Well, I sure hope I wasn't a guy last night.
It was me and one of my friends. She had on a brown shirt. We were probably in the handful of 18-year old girls there.
Actually, there were more 'kids' there than I had expected.

If Dee has curly red-ish hair, it was you guys. lol
I was sitting right behind her (and in between two wasted people).
I was the youngin' with the LED belt scrolling <3 Stevie <3.

Sorry if I screamed too much! :sorry: ;)
