Anyone know anything about this?

Rock Magazine, November 1984

For the present, says the intense, loquacious Buckingham, "I want to learn to rely on myself as much as possible. I've always had a discipline musically; I want to establish more of a discipline in my day to day life." He has also been contacted recently about starring opposite Linda Ronstadt in a Broadway production of the opera La Boheme this fall.

huh??? Lindsey in an opera? I wonder if that was true or just some BS the writer made up?

I think the article has the wrong info about the project. I do remember something about LB being asked to audition opposite Linda Ronstadt for the movie version of the musical Pirates of Penzance. They were looking to cast a couple of good looking rock stars who could sing. Acting wasn't a top priority. Linda got the nod. I don't know if he ever auditioned or they just took one look at his music videos and went screaming for the hills, and changed their mind about needing someone who could at least mouth the words correctly, if not act. I think they went with Kevin Kline. Good call.

Kline and Ronstadt were both in the stage version of Pezance together and in the movie version together, so I assume he was asked to audition for the original stage version opposite Ronstadt before Kline got it. And can I just say how much I love the movie? "My Eyes Are Fully Open" is a hoot!

So you don't think Lindsey would have been nominated for a Tony?

Seriously though...

Best Actor in a Video: Lindsey Buckingham - Oh Diane. For the overemphasized awkward lip movements of "oh"

Best Supporting Actress in a Video: Stevie Nicks - Oh Diane. For the slo mo tambourine playing and the great creeping up to the mic to mouth "Dianeeeeeeeee" of which didn't even follow the actual vocal.

LOL.
