Is anyone old enough here to...
remember all the stuff you got when you joined Stevie's fan club way back when??? There was a white plastic membership card with a tambourine and roses....had some purple on it. I'm going to try and find it...

JEALOUS! Man, you got that sutff? All I have is the envelope and order form for the calander from HWW. Also, some order form from some weird company in the 80's that sold handmade shawls, capes, and Stevie stuff like a shirt w/ a "black beret" pic on it and underneath it said "Blame It On My Wild Heart." Hmm, now I need to find that. Wanna say Crescent Moon Designs or something. They also sold cassettes of the Jim Ladd Interview where she sings I've Loved & I've Lost. I was So broke as a kid. I never could order anything. I am sure I must have joined, but I don't recall getting anything just for having joined. Seemed like you only got stuff if you paid for other things. That long ago is a bit fuzzy for me.

I remember the membership card, a "signed photo" - the one with the hat and feather, and the Jane Weidlin poem from the wedding. I have it all here somewhere. Oh, and a purple shirt with the Bella Donna logo on it. Now that I am wearing all these crazy retro t-shirts, I oughta dig out those damned things and wear them.

I am old enough to have acquired those things at the time, but I didn't really get into Stevie until Rock A Little. That's when I became a Stevie-freak. I do have a signed letter from Ginny Kamano, on some odd Stevie stationary, but that's pretty common for the era, I've heard.
I have always been somewhat disappointed that Chris cut off the fan club after Wild Heart. |

I am old enough. The fan club address was on the back of The Wild Heart, so I sent off the SASE, and waited for the sign-up paperwork. I saved my allowance for the membership fee, sent off the forms, and NEVER GOT A SINGLE DAMN THING.
 But I know they got my info, because just a little while after sending in the fan club stuff, I got that letter from Herbert Worthington saying he was selling all those Stevie prints. Also, years, later I got the promo postcard for Street Angel. So typical -- they didn't send me what was promised, but every time there was some new scheme to get my money, they made sure I got THAT. |
those were good times
I sent that SASE off the day WH came out. And I joined and got my very cool membership card, WH promo poster, poem ("personalized greeting"), bella Donna bird button (so odd!) and promo photo. It was like Chirstmas receiving all that. However, I didn't get a shirt. What gives!!??? But I do remember the price. All of that for 9.99 plus shipping. Those were the good days :) Even the order from had the WH Stevie logo on it. I kept it like it was a souvenir as well. Never really got to participate in any fan club activies though ;)

I guess I was one of the luckier ones. I got all of that stuff plus I was able to order the HWW calendar of Stevie that is still one of my more treasured possessions. My Wild Heart poster is now framed and on the wall of my office. I really wish Chris had kept the fan-club going. Man, can you imagine how out-of-control it would have been had we had the internet back in the day with Bella Donna and the Wild Heart LP's were released????

At one point, HWW put some of his photos in a music museum that opened briefly in Hollywood or West L.A. -- the Museum of Rock Art, remember that? I never got down there to see that stuff, & it was gone before too long. |
