I had a great time. I went with two other girls: my friend from grade school, Sara, (good name, I know, ;) )and a girl who I met up at school named Kirsten who happened to notice my cresent moon necklace one day while we were walking our separate ways through our student union building, going to class when she stopped me and said to me: "I love your necklace...do you like Stevie Nicks?!?" I about died that someone my age at my school liked Stevie as much as I did so it was inevitable that we kept in touch after that. She ended up flying out to Pittsburgh from Philly to meet up with us for the concert and that brings us up to being at the show on Saturday. We all bought separate tickets but somehow Kirsten managed to come with me to my seat (sec two, row g) and stand by me the whole show. We were a couple of rows behind Curtis, which ultimately led to a perfect photo-op ;) . Anyhow, Kirsten and I stood (and danced) the whole time. It was funny in the beginning because hardly anyone else was standing when Don was singing and so his guitarist kept smiling at us, and we were right under a white light so Sharon looked over a couple times during Stevie's set and saw us dancing and she smiled/ chuckled at us. It was so great!
We were afraid that security wouldn't allow a stage rush for EOS, but we noticed people lining up for it so we made a dash for the side of the stage too and I ended up shaking Stevie's hand... twice!!! :] :D I know that many of us have had this opportunity in the past but this was my third time seeing her (my first seeing her solo,) and so it was a first for me. I'm still on cloud nine!
Anyhow. I was right in front of Waddy for a lot of the time and he kept looking at me and smiling and I was kinda singing leather and lace to him. Lol. It was funny. I remember him lookin at me as I sang to him "stay with me stay." :D I think he got a kick out of it. Later when he was throwing out guitar picks to the crowd, I tried for one but I didn't get any picks. (Glad that Curtis ended up finding the one we thought fell into the grates at the bottom of the stage :) ) Anyhow, when Stevie came to shake my hand, I was too awestruck to say anything to her (heck it was enough to shake her hand,) but she did tell us to "be careful" as she came by because some people were really squeezing together to reach her.
Another moment that stuck out was during 'So you wanna be a rock and roll star,' when both Stevie and Don almost started to sing too early but they stopped just in time to cover it up. Don tried to play it off like things were cool and it looked like Stevie was trying to too but she looked at him and couldn't keep a straight face and so they both sort of laughed for a second before starting the next verse. It was really cute. Did anyone else notice this?
The whole time I was at the foot of the stage, I tried to snap away with my camera. I couldn't believe it that a security guy still told me to put my camera away. It was the end of the concert! (I do feel kind of bad now however when I heard the reason why they weren't allowing cameras was because Don is really sensitive to light. Opps. I hope it didn't bother him too much. angel: )
So.... the concert being over, I was able to talk to Curtis a second (we were trying to search for Waddy's pick) and I said 'hey' to Corey before heading up the the Smirnoff deck to wait out the crowd before attempting to leave. Upon leaving, as we pulled out to the road to head back towards Pittsburgh, who else pulls out in front of us but THE BAND in their two big tour buses! I didn't recognize them at first because I was too afraid that they weren't going to yield for us and we would die (exaggeration) but then Kirsten recognized Stevie's drummer.(We couldn't remember his name so we kept referring to him as 'hair.') We decided that fate had taken it's course and we were destined to follow those buses. Follow them we did, (since we figured that they would be staying somewhere in Pittsburgh, which was where we were headed anyhow,) and we just stayed behind the tour buses the whole way back. (You should have seen my little Jetta flying and switching lanes to keep up :D ) Anyhow, we were right! The band was staying in Pittsburgh. We ended up at the Westin Hotel and parked our car. We sat in the car for a few and we saw the bass player, "hair" and Taku get out and go inside. Not wanting to look too much like groupies, we at least waited for them to go in, but that didn't last long. After like two seconds, we stopped worrying about being "cool, calm and collected" and we just dashed across the street and into the hotel. Everyone was gone except for "hair," and he was at the elevator. He saw us and knew we were fans ( I had on my Stevie Nicks shirt for God's Sake, lol,) and he kinda smiled over in our direction. He seemed really sweet and kinda shy. We waved and told him 'good job' as we passed him and he got in the elevator to go to his room. Well, the three of us didn't want to just go home because we figured that some of the guys would want to come back down to the lounge for a drink. Eventually, "hair" did come back down, but it was past call for the lounge ( :( ) and we figured that he was going else where with other people. That's when I struck up another conversation with him and asked if I could have a picture with him. Of course he said 'yes,' and that's how I got my picture. He really was so sweet. I remember him saying after we congratulated him on the show that he was "only the drummer," and I told him "ONLY?! No way! Drummers are awesome!" I know, I sounded really dumb probably, but I really meant it when I told him he did a good job.
By this time, it was late and while it would have been cool to hang around and talk, I didn’t want to feel like a stalker so we decided to leave our Stevie drummer encounter at that. After all, it was late and obviously Stevie was already most- likely up in her room sound asleep for the evening, so we walked back to my car and settled for just hanging around a little while longer to see who 'hair ' was waiting for. It turned out to be the bass player (don't know his name either  ) and Brett Tuggle!!! Ahhh! We sorta just watched them walk around the corner and then... we drove off. Such an unlikely encounter, but a great one none-the-less. I definitely felt like a stalker, but it was fun and suprisingly not planned out so we felt it was in the cards for us that night to meet Stevie's drummer. lol. All in all, it was a great night, and I'm still glowing from the whole experience. (From the actual concert to the Westin.) Everyone was so nice and it's a wonderful feeling to know that I'll never be alone at a Stevie concert. I'm glad that I had the chance to meet Curtis on Saturday, (it was a pleasure, by the way!) but I can't wait to meet more of you at future concerts. You guys rock! Hope you enjoy my pictures, and have a great night! :)
