Looks like even though it's not being advertised on Ticketmaster as such, Vanessa Carlton is set to open for Stevie for the duration of her solo tour as per Vanessa's people.

Tell me how they decide what cities to play on a tour. I mean, how do they pick them? And do you think they avoid Canada because of the border bull****?

Who knows how they decide what cities to play. I do find it odd how her hometown of Phoenix is not on that list. I would love to go and not have it be a benefit show. I guess we will just have to wait to see if she adds more dates and maybe another Vegas gig, too.

What happens with concerts is venues bid on the artist to come and play through booking agents (at least this is how i've heard it's done). Also, the tour promoter will have something to do with it. Clear Channel will usually have a band play all Clear Channel Venues. However, on this particular tour, she's being promoted by more than one corporation (Pace Concerts, Concerts West, Clear Channel, etc.) so I think the dates and venues were pretty much a crapshoot. Whoever bid highest, got her. I'm still curious as to why Toronto fell through but seeing as Stevie's been based out of Philadelphia for the whole of this tour, It makes it seem to me like she just doesn't want to do much travelling at all and perhaps the promoter thought it more advantageous to stay in the states

That makes sense, thank you! ya, the Toronto show being cancelled immediately was wierd, I wonder what happened there?

This has nothing to do with anything, but speaking of Vanessa Carlton, for you fans of hers, she is naked in the latest issue of Jane Magazine (the one w/ Anna Kournikova on the cover). Her hair is covering her naughty bits, ;) . It is actually a pretty tasteful pic and reminds me of the ones of Janis Joplin in Rolling Stone. I'm not a big Vanessa fan but I have a subscription to Jane and they decided to put a few naked celebs (male and female) in their summer issue.

I had recalled her saying that she didn't need to be naked to command the attention of men so I of course thought way to sell out, Vanessa. But since this is Jane and not Maxim, I didn't think it would be all Michelle Branch-esque--and it wasn't. The photo was tastefully done.

Yeah thats what they all say

Chris

I wish I could go to one of the solo shows cause I'd like to see Vanessa. I've liked her since I first heard Thousand Miles. "White Houses," her first single off her latest album is a great song I think. Too bad it didn't get much airplay...

Check out the merch on her website! Unicorn tees and tank tops!

I was like, "well, she'll fit right in with Stevie" From what I hear, her set will be acoustic so that should be pretty awesome.
