You know I wondered about that....... I've never been to Grand Rapids but I know every other venue I've ever been to in Michigan are sooooo uptight about cameras!! It really kind of sucks

I am hoping to make it to this show, but I have no ticket yet so I have not decided! I have been to Van Andel before though (in '03 for the SYW show, 4th row), and I think I actually was able to get my camera in. I had it buried in my purse under a few other things and I don't think they noticed it. Still, I don't want to deal with the stress so I don't think I'll be trying to get my camera in this time around. It is a nice venue though--not too big! :o I am still hoping to score a decent last-minute ticket!

I am going and "I can't wait!" Actually my sister and I just gave in and got tickets for the DTE for next Saturday too. We really wanted to see Don Henley and were disappointed that he was not going to be here in GR.
Yea, it is pretty hard to get cameras in to the Van Andel. I haven't tried for a concert, but I know that they do search you.

krrrby 06-12-2005 06:26 PM

when I was at the SYW show in 03 someone was flashing pictures a few rows behind us, and 3 security ppl were looking up trying to find the guy...they eventually went up there and took his camera...

That's what I am afraid of happening, even though my camera can do a no-flash, I still do not want to take the chance...

Although I thought hey I'm gonna be in 5th row and I'll get to go up to the stage during the end, maybe I could sneak a couple of snapshots...

but yea, van andel is strict about concerts...they were patting down my pants and everything for the 03 show

Mom was trying to decipher how I can sneak one in, and I said, simple...stick it in my crotch and tell them I have a big bulge LOL  the camera can fits right into my hands its pretty small 4MP even

Rampage Girl 06-12-2005 06:33 PM

I would LOVE to get my camera in, especially since I am in the front row, but I don't want to take that chance. I will just opt to enjoy the pictures that the other fans take and post here. :)

WelshWitchPMD 06-12-2005 06:55 PM

I know at the Henley shows they were frowned upon because he does not like bright lights.
I would try to sneak a camera in and shut the flash off. Save it for the Edge rush maybe because it will be near the end of the show and in a sea of people they will never even be able to see you.
Stevie usually allows point and shoot cameras with the flash off anyway.

My god I envy you LOL

I at least managed to get 5th row on the left side during the presale
I know some other friends who are sitting nearby

I'm so excited! :blob1:

I thought I'd reply to this thread since now I know for sure I am going--I snagged a front row seat for $164.00 total (including shipping) on eBay! :] I am pretty effing excited! Now I've just got to decide where I'm staying and stuff, since it's about a four-hour hike for me (maybe five when you factor in that I lose an hour driving from Chicago (central time zone) to Michigan (eastern time zone). Is there a meet-up planned for before or after this concert? Ahhhhhhhhhhh! I'm so excited!!! :blob2:

Hey I bet you I saw that damn seat on ebay, and I have never used ebay before so I was kinda scared about bidding LOL

But that's great! I'll be closeby... I decided I'm not going to take the digital camera, because I know someone that knows someone who works at van andel, and said they supposably have metal detectors now, and I'm not taking that risk of getting booted.

As far as hotels, I have two suggestions...

Amway Grand Hotel - Although expensive (and if it's just one night, it might not be too bad for you), your greatest advantage to this is that there is a skywalk that connects all the way form the hotel to van andel which is so convenient.

Across the river there's a Days Inn, it'd probably be a 10 minute walk to Van Andel. Not sure on prices here either, but I'm supposing they are affordable.

As far as I know there is no meet-ups planned or anything...I'm tagging along with my mom, so more than likely her and I will be fleeing the scene once it's over, and I have to write my review as soon as I get home, or I'll tend to forget things.

If not, maybe we'll all bump into each other when we rush to the stage for Edge :blob2: :blob2:

I am new here, so I don't know of any meet up, but since we will both be in the front row, you are more than welcome to come over and say HI! I will be in seat either 13 or 14, my sister will be in the other one. :) Have a safe trip!!

Cool, thanks for letting me know! :-D I will try to come by and say 'hi.' :blob1: I've got to make sure your signature has a name in it because I don't really want to say "are you Rampage Girl?" LOL I'm getting soooooo excited!

Talk to you later,
*Lisa Anne*

krrrby 06-15-2005 10:00 PM

I'll be on the left side, row 5 seats 13 and 14 if anyone wants to say hi to me...
not sure what I'll be wearing yet LOL

Rampage Girl 06-16-2005 08:41 AM

Littlecricket2 - I don't think I put my name on my signature. My real name is Amy Jo. I have blonde hair, and my sister has red hair. I can't wait til the 24th! Only 8 days away!!!!!
