More Live Aid Shows....

Five New Live Aid Shows Announced

LONDON - Circus Maximus in Rome, London's Hyde Park and the Eiffel Tower in Paris are among the venues for Live 8, a series of concerts being organized by Bob Geldof, the driving force behind the Band Aid and Live Aid campaigns for African famine relief.

The July 2 concerts, which will be free, also will be held at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin and in Philadelphia, organizers said Tuesday.

Performers include Coldplay, Madonna, Paul McCartney, R.E.M. and U2 in London; Will Smith, Bon Jovi, Dave Matthews Band, Stevie Wonder and P. Diddy in Philadelphia; Crosby, Stills and Nash, Lauren Hill and Brian Wilson in Berlin; Jamiroquai, Youssou N'Dour, Yannick Noah and Placebo in Paris; and Duran Duran in Rome.

The events are aimed at raising awareness of poverty in developing countries just days before G8 leaders meet in Britain. Organizers didn't immediately announce which artists would perform at the concerts or where the concert in Philadelphia would take place.

They said there were plans for concerts in other cities in G8 countries, but didn't give further details. Japan, Canada and Russia are the three other nations in the G8.

They're doing this on the BF Parkway, right? What a freakin' madhouse that will be! I went to a Fourth of July concert on the Parkway like 20 years ago and I still haven't fully recovered!

Yeah, I want to be in the middle of millions of people in the middle of Philadelphia (aka Humidelphia) in JULY! Just send the paramedics now...

I believe so, yes. I can't think of anywhere else they'd be able to have it unless they went to the stadium but there would more than likely be a baseball game. It's mass pandamonium on the Ben Franklin Parkway every year with or without this stuff. Philadelphia and Sunoco do a huge Welcome America festival from the 26th of June until the 4th of July. Even last year for Peter Frampton it was out of control. I work that day from 9-5 so I wouldn't be able to go over even if I wanted to. If the crew doing the London show were going to be in Philadelphia? i'd be there in a New York Minute but for P-Diddy, Will Smith and Bon Jovi? Meeh. No thanks. I've lived here for nearly 22 years and we have never gone to Philadelphia near or on the 4th of July. Even NJ gets packed solid with tourists. For fireworks, we (along with everyone else in Southern NJ) will sit on the banks of the Delaware River to see them.

I wanna go to London!!!!! :(

I am like 2 seconds from Philly and I have no desire to go to this. I do tend to do South Street most 4th of July's but I guess not this year...

The London leg is alot cooler.

But it won't be as cool as it was in 1985. That was amazing. I wish I had been old enough to see that.

OMG I would love to go to London, All they need is for The Rolling Stones to be there and that would be my perfect concert! Whooo! I wish I could go :distress:
They got some wonderful crap to play at the Phily concert. WTF were they thinking?

It's like they gathered most of my most hated acts and put them together in one line-up!
I guess I won't be going.

Please say you don't like Robbie Williams though Pip, the rest I'm fine with.
I have a Robbie phobia - I can't stand him!

LOL! Well I have to confess to having a couple of his cd's. I did like him very briefly but now I think he is a big-headed twat who is far too in love with himself :p

Well as long as you've come to your senses now, Pip!
I think I only really started to hate him when he did that CD of standards. I often see people reading his book on the tube though.
