Queer As Folk- did anybody watch the first episode of the season?
Anyone else watch this show? The premiere was really good. I noticed a lot more sex scenes this season though. Last season there was like one an episode and it seemed like they were trying to tone it down, but there were literally dozens of sex scenes in this episode... I felt like I was watching porn! Does anyone think that in a way this series is bad for the gay community? Like having sex in public with strangers every night! I just wanted to get everyones input. It is a really entertaining show and it is groundbreaking, but I think it may be doing some harm...

I've only watched it, like, once. Didn't really like it very much. I just cannot take Hal Sparks seriously.

It's not reality. Gimme a break. The first season was good. I especially love the rimming scene between Brian and Justin. Hell yeah!! Gale Harold is soooooo ****ing hot!! I hate that word hot, but my mental thesaurus is on the fritz, so I'm using it.
I haven't watched the show in a couple of years. The writing starting going downhill after they mirrored the British version of the show. |
All I know about this show is that Hal Sparks loves the 80's, 70's and 90's a lot

I ADORE THIS SHOW. I think Hal Sparks and Gale Harold are both quite f*ckable. Either of them could eat crackers in my bed any day. I have the first four seasons on DVD (my fav episode is still the season one finale, though. I swear I cry everytime!) but sadly, I do not have a subscription to Showtime. :distress: Therefore, as much as I would love to have seen this new episode, I was not able to. I can only wait until it is made available on DVD. (No sense in signing up for Showtime now since, if I'm not mistaken, the fifth season is to be the last one). :distress: Edit: To answer your question: Yes I do believe that it is bad for the gay community. Not only does it display the worst aspects of gay culture, it also provides a poor role model for gay youth. I wrote a paper on this very issue for an English class awhile back. Still - it sure is hot! Not always realistic, but damn sexy. They do address serious issues though - hate crimes, HIV/AIDS, discrimination in the work place, drug addiction, parental rights, etc. So, it's not all bad. |

For those who do not watch the show, may I present his royal hotness, Mr. Gale Harold:

Brian is my favorite character on the show of course. I like Lindsey and Emmet too. But no one can touch Brian- he is just like no other character on tv. I love his loft! And his clothes! |

I love Brian, Michael, Emmett, and Debbie. I don't really care for Lindsay or Melanie. I liked Ted a lot initially, but lost interest after the whole porno site thing. I can't stand Justin, Hunter, or Ben (I thought David was much more likeable and sexier). Have you ever tried watching the British version? I bought it on DVD and just couldn't get into it. I couldn't understand half of what they were saying and didn't find any of them at all attractive. |

I do like Sharon Gless and the character of Emmett really cracks me up. The other characters either bore me (Ted, Bryan, Michael and his revolving earnest or boneheaded boyfriends, the girls), or are unwatchable enough to make me change the channel (Justin,Ted's boyfriends, The dead Uncle Vic). I was so disappointed in this show, as I loved the UK version and found it well cast, well written and well acted. Everything this show IMO is not. Is it bad for the gay community ? Toss up. People who are going to hate homos already do. People who are gonna like us pretty much already do. It's TV, no one believes it's reality. I do remember that Twinkie boy had a violin player boyfriend a few seasons ago that was really a doll. One of maybe three actors on the show I have ever found atractive ! On the other hand, I love the L Word. |

I read that Rosie has a three episode stint on Queer As Folk. I may actually watch one of those episodes just for the train-wreck factor. But I'm one of the few who think that she is hysterical ever since she became a total bitch. Her blog is one ****ing funny read. |

The L Word is funny and very well thought out. The costume designer should be removed, though the things she does are pretty entertaining. Train wreck factor in that. The lighting in the last few episodes was an atrocity - blown out like a home video - but other than that, I really enjoy it. |

Haven't seen the L Word. Not really that interested. |
