Rhiannon from the SYW tour

I loved this version- it pretty much rocked. Especially the "Well, I don't think you do!!!!" part and the dramatic ending when she threw her hair into her face, etc.

I've noticed that people pretty much take this song for granted and just plain don't want it in the set anymore saying that she can't do it justice these days. Would anyone else be heartbroken if she got rid of this song? I just love it! :xoxo:

Weeeeelllllll, I don't think you doooooooo!!!!!!!!!

I agree one hundred percent. Rhiannon is one of the highlights of LIB. In fact, it came on the radio just today, and I thought to myself "Wow, this song really rocks live." The first image that came into my head was her wild hair in LIB.

I thought LIB "Rhiannon" was superior to the Dance version. However, the old renditions are still my favorite. :wavey:

Agreed.

And am I the only one that dislikes the "Wellll...I don't think you do." I think it's a lil lame.

I love it too, there was much more energy and passion in the SYW version than in The Dance version, IMO.

SYW's Rhiannon was one song where Stevie pulled out all the stops to rock it. There was no holding back and I thought it was passionate and almost wild. Definitely better than the Dance. They can't ever drop Rhiannon. It's a staple and fans love it!

Yeah, but didn't she do that years & years ago?

Those of you who listen to the 1991 tour & the 1994 tour, check it out.

I don't really dig it either. And I sorta wish she'd do the "nothing ever changes" chant like on the E. Rutherford '87 version, but maybe that's just me.

I also wish I had come up with your belly-dancing smilies, because those are f***ing funny. :wavey:

I love that part, too!! I loved singing along with her on that one line at the SYW shows. :)

No, it's not just you! That version of "Rhiannon" is simply amazing -- possibly my favorite ever -- and I love how she plays around with the rhythm of the "nothing ever changes" line. I think we've discussed it before, but who knew she had that in her in 1987??
Does anyone know if the "changes" thing was a regular occurence on that tour, or did she just do it that one time? I know "Rhiannon" was dropped pretty early on...

I downloaded that version just out of curiosity, because I knew the song was dropped, and was amazed--her intensity in that one is just killer. She has this low, focused tone thing going on, and you're completely right about the "nothing ever changes" rhythm--it's not exactly the same twice, and it's because of how she's controlling it, not because she's bored or tired, like she sometimes seemed to be on other stuff.

I'm not sure if she ever did that again; she definitely hasn't on the other "Rhiannons" I know from that tour. Don't know if that helps or not. :sorry:

If you play Rhiannon, they dance to the beat. ;)

I would not be heartbroken if Rhiannon were forever dropped from the set of both FM and solo shows. I guess after nearly 20 years of fandom, and 30 years of her performing it, I'm just tired of it. Bring out Angel, or Storms, or Sisters of the Moon, or Straight Back, or Imperial Hotel if we're talking solo tours....NO MORE RHIANNON!

:sorry: Not really.

That is one of my favorite latter day versions of Rhiannon.
