Stevie formed Fritz? LOL!

Good thing Stevie formed Fritz with that guy she met in high school.

Looks like the seller of this Buckingham Nicks bootleg got his info from the Stevie spin machine.

Stevie formed Fritz
Fritz disbanned because everyone else was jealous of Stevie getting all the attention
Mick asked Stevie and her lover to join FM after seeing their nude album cover?

the mystical chanteuse, singer/songwriter Stevie Nicks who enjoyed phenomenal success not only as a solo artist but also as a key member of Fleetwood Mac. Stephanie Lynn Nicks was born May 26, 1948 in Phoenix, Arizona; the granddaugher of a frustrated country singer, she began performing at the age of four, and occasionally sang at the tavern owned by her parents. Nicks started writing songs in her mid-teens, and joined her first group, the Changing Times, while attending high school in California.

LB was lucky to be mentioned as a "student" and her "lover" and "partner"

Two kinds of people in this world...

message that i elected to not send:

"general question about this item"

"If you have any Stevie Nicks, Fleetwood Mac or CD collectors with impecable taste on your on your Gift list..." A collector with any taste at all would vomit upon seeing your disc. Congrats for ripping a high-quality CD, though there are already many available for trade in the FM community. My question is this: did you fact check the bio at all?

send it just for fun!  :p I really HATE these idiots who feel they have to tell the complete background on an object. If you are searching for such things you ALREADY know more than the seller in most cases. I think of it as Ebay Spam. And , as in this case, most of the info is wrong.

What Stevie spin machine is that? I've never heard that before. I think this guy is just an idiot - I think you may be just a touch paranoid about the so-called "Stevie spin machine." Seriously, I don't think anyone in her camp gives a hoot what anyone thinks or says about Fritz these days.

As for the rest, here is what his description actually reads:

During her senior year, Nicks met fellow student Lindsey Buckingham, with whom she formed the band Fritz along with friends Javier Pacheco and Calvin Roper. Between 1968 and 1971, the group became a popular attraction on the West Coast music scene, opening for Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Creedence Clearwater Revival. Ultimately, tensions arose over the amount of attention paid by fans to Nicks' pouty allure, and after three years Fritz disbanded; Buckingham remained her partner, however, and soon became her lover as well.

I think, honestly, he didn't mean "form" as in "started up." He meant it as the four of them together made up Fritz. He's just not quite literate. We should feel sorry for the guy.

Which is precisely what he was at the time. All three of the above.

It would be funny and we could call this guy an idiot if his description didn't sound a lot like other over-stated things about Stevie and her music history like Mick's photo history of FM. A part in that book describes Fritz as Stevie's SF bay area band in which Lindsey was the bass player. The fact that Stevie wasn't even in the band in the early years and Lindsey was a founding member seems to have escaped Mick. It's not that big a deal. It's just an example of how Stevie's contributions are often over-stated while other people are diminished to make her history seem like a bigger deal than it was in her musical groups, FM, BN and Fritz included. Stevie does have a PR spin machine and they make a living getting things like this on the pages of history. The people who keep putting it out there Fritz was a heavy duty SF rock band opening for the biggies in the 60's SF music scene are not agents for Javier Pacheco or LB. They both describe the band as a high school and college party band that was fortunate enough to open once or twice for some big acts at some music festivals. It wasn't a weekly occurance. To hear Stevie and her people tell it, she was opening for every name act in SF for three years. Some people think small distortions like these are inconsequential but they are still distortions and unnecessary ones. Stevie's truthful history is good enough to stand on it's own without people over-stating it.

She should just stick to stating all facts as dryly as humanly possible. Interviews with rock stars shouldn't be entertaining, damnit, they should be like a history lesson from your dull high school teacher!

Just check out old 'Three's Company' repeats for proof of that! ;)

Anyone remember that old episode when nosey landlord Mr. Henley overhears a conversation through the floor vents, and thinks Stevie is pregnant with his baby and wants to get rid of it -- and it turns out she just has a nasty wart from touching him?

The Stevie "spin machine" is endlessly fascinating to watch. (yes there is one) I found it so amusing when people started asking after Vegas "but WHY would Cory lie?" What exactly do most people think publicists do? (i know Cory is not her publicist) Are Angelina and Brad's PR people running around telling the God's honest truth or are they spinning things?
In May of 2004, out front of the Four Seasons there were a group of rabid men waiting for Stevie to come down and get into her limo to take her to Chastain. (no, Jason wasn't there : > ) ) Anyway, Taku comes down first and these rabid fans ask him if Stevie is coming down. He turns to them and says "she already left for the venue". Did he lie? Or was he trying to protect her? This is not a very good example but her people , like most celebrites "people" will spin things to make things look the way they want. It has been done with Fritz in the past too. It has been done with her drug addiction. (for YEARS they said she was in BF for alcohol ONLY) It has been done in regards to her relationship to Lindsey. Perhaps this article's inaccuracies are just based on the author's lack of research but maybe he got some of the Fritz info from Mick's book? The book filled with lot's of "spin"!

Bwahahaha!!

All good points about the PR spin machines above. I guess I just chalked the eBay guy up as a loser whose interpretation of Fritz has little consequence on the world. But I agree with everyone that ALL stars/celebs/whatever have PR people who stretch the truth on a constant basis. And yeah, Mick "embellished" much in his book. He's admitted it at this point. I tihnk that's why no one else in the band took it seriously when it came out.

 . Because, as we all know, there is a MASSIVE Stevie Nicks conspiracy out there. Huge. In fact, I think that's what Mulder was actually investigating on The X-Files , wasn't it? ;)

Why is a rock star--or any celebrity--who is prone to embellishing or whatever in interviews so suspect? Maybe they have a lousy memory. Maybe they feel insecure and want to sound better than they think they do. Maybe they don't think it's anyone's business, so they twist things around. Michael Caine used to tell Stanley Baker's life story and pass it as his own in interviews, though he's quit that. Does that make him a liar, or a guy who wants people out of his business? And honestly, does it matter? Do you like the work or the person, in the end?

Just my two cents. :wavey:

Opens eyes as wide as possible and puts on Stevie's best This.Is.Seeeeeeeereous face:

When Lindsey's father died, I had to hand him the phone knowing what they would tell him. It was just horrible. A horrible thing. I wanted to break down and cry. If I wasn't the one who had to be strong, I would have reverted back into the fetal position with my thumb in my mouth. I felt so awful knowing what was waiting for him on that telephone. A horrible, horrible thing. I was devastated.
