I added a spot on my site that everyone should check out. It is called "The Angel Conspiracy". That is this week's title..next week I will add something else on there that is along the same lines. What do you all think? Pretty uncanny huh?

Ha, I liked the second mix with the "ahooooooo" and the "ooo, ooo, ooo".
But I never would've thought they were very alike. Though I see your point...

Holy CR*P!!! I think Stevie would have grounds for a lawsuit on the "New York" tune. I can't remember now if you said on your site, but do you know when Ashcroft wrote his? I'm stunned. It is the SAME song (er, with not quite so poetic words). Even down to the weird, produced vocal bridge lines in the middle.

Stevie wouldn't, but Richard might! "New York" is on an album called "Alone with Everybody" that was released in 2000.

I don't find them really similar or maybe since I didn't like that album I just hope she hasn't taken anything from it. :p I always thought about the bassline in Illume the cool idea was to bring out a melody that's commonly used. Am I totally crazy?

Hahaha! Oops. Well, Richard may very well have a case then.... The bassline, the general melody... but then that weird-sounding vocal bridge, too. That's what seals it for me. Without it, it's already the same song. With it? Yikes.

i think the Angel - wherewolves of london connection is a little vague

but Illume and New York and the Police and Edge are almost EXACT

About song with similarities, I have always loved this site:

Pop/ rock music is quite a little world, it seems ;)

As a Richard Ashcroft fan, let me put this to rest for like, I don't know, the millionth time.

Richard wrote that song, "New York", before 2000, before 9/11 even happened, before Stevie even wrote Illume.

EDIT: Pretty much what David said. :)

To my understanding everyone is referring to the similarities in the MUSIC not the meaning of the lyrics

That's what I'm saying.

How could Richard rip off music to a song that wasn't even conceived when he wrote HIS song?

yeah basically all jeremy is trying to do is show you how stevie/mac rip off songs.

wondergirl9847 04-30-2005 08:23 PM

Dude

She TOTALLY ripped off The Police. LOL I think there is argument when it comes to this type of thing...did they do it intentionally or are those songs in their "vault". I think you can hear so much music in your lifetime, and it meshes together sometimes.

That NY bassline is totally ripped. That is a pretty rad song. I love Illume too. They should have given some credit, because that is too much of a coinkydink the song being named NY and Illume being about 9/11.

Angel/Werewolves....wierd. I never noticed that before. Ahoooooo....Oooohooo!!!! LMAO!!
