New Threads

If you are going to start a new thread just to start trouble, don't.

I will trust that people will keep letting me on when this happens and I will keep closing them.

We are NOT all gay on these boards. We are not all white. We are not all men. I mean we are all different people. What's great is a level of acceptance.

Some get harsh against certain things but there is a line. That line was crossed when gays were referred by 1/2insane as they were.

I am not banning anyone, because I don't have that power. I am giving one last chance before I will give up the power to someone else who can ban.

Just please no more threads just to start trouble and no more gay bashing. It's just not right.

Thank you
Janet

Thanks Janet. I just got done reading that whole thread and I am disgusted that something so heinous was written by a fellow Fleetwood Mac fan. To quote Stevie "let there be light in this lifetime"...

The thing I don't understand about closing the thread IS:
We, 99.5% of the Ledge community, were HERE, supporting each other. I see that as a VERY positive thing. And, we may have even convinced someone of their error in judgement. It's called free thought, and free speech, and that's what he, and we, were exercising. I've seen moderators get a little out of hand before(not mentioning any names{not you}), but I'm NO fan of censorship. And closing the thread was just that, IMO. :distress: No thanks.

SuzeQuze 04-29-2005 07:53 AM

Thanks Janet, I support your decision. That thread's been done before. I appreciate your intervention.

Thanks Janet! :)

So, he should be able to come here and post lies about me in the name of "free speech"? F*ck you, pal.

F*ck me? F*ck me? I was trying to convince him that he was wrong. What a jerk you are.

skcin 04-29-2005 11:24 AM

Uh-Oh. :(

DrummerDeanna 04-29-2005 11:28 AM

Thanks Janet - I think you made the right choice...

*sigh* I know I'm guilty of taking the bait of baiters -....I really need to work on that one :p

Nixxxed 04-29-2005 11:51 AM

Thanks Janet!

The actual thread message (text) was one thing, even though the tone was a little hostile. But when coupled with the irrelevant title and oh-so-glibly attached links at the bottom, I think that proves it was nothing more than baiting and (sadly) negates any genuine intent or issues.

And I appreciate your having to deal with all this crap all the time (and the same goes for the rest of the mods...). :wavey:

I understand where you're coming from, but I still agree with Janet's decision. I agree that free speech ought to be embraced here, but I think Suze said it when she said that the thread has already been done before. I think that it became superfluous quickly. Besides, if there's an issue in it that you or anyone else thinks we could all discuss in a mature and respectful way (with some posters that is basically impossible) we can always start another thread, right?

But please don't regret standing up for minorities in that thread because of a comment made earlier on in this thread. I don't want you to think that you weren't appreciated because you definitely were/are.

My ass has been bitten on The Ledge a couple of times. I think the reason is the written word can easily be read the wrong way.
