Tori Amos Concert!

I had the great opportunity to see Tori Amos live at the Atlanta Symphony Hall last night. It was one of the most phenomenal shows I've ever seen...Tori does a different set every night, so I didn't know what to expect..and she really did pull out some obscurities.. She barely played any of the "hits", which was ok. To my surprise and delight she performed LANDSLIDE, which she hasn't done yet on this tour..

During LANDSLIDE about 1 min into the song, some drunk lady who had been heckling all night was blurting things out, and laughing and screaming...and Tori stopped the song and said "HEY! The Motley Crew concert is across the street, ok???" lol then she started over...

She has a very good, and devoted crowd...and she was VERY into it, as she usually is from what I've seen...She wore a long white chiffon dress, much like the dress Stevie wore on the Bella Donna album cover..

Here's the set list :

Original Sinsuality
Blood Roses
Past The Mission
Sleeps With Butterflies
Cooling
The Power of Orange Knickers
The Doughnut Song

--She said a man from Atlanta had requested RocketMan, and she loved the song because when she was younger playing in bars, after the show was over, her brother would always ask her to play that song, while he ordered a beer...so she said it was special to her...she said she also got a request for GEORGIA ON MY MIND, but she thought it would be too cliche to play it in Georgia, lol..but she did play a few chords of it...before saying "just kidding."
One of my favorites "BLOOD ROSES" was a true highlight, as well as the songs from the NEW CD which I have grown to love..it was truly a great night...
She rotated between 2 pianos, and a B3 Organ (which at times sounded very evil, lol) and would play the piano and organ at the same time sometimes, or jump back and forth...

Atlanta Symphony Hall is a magnificent hall, seating only about 2000, and there was not an empty seat..great night!

Her brother died in a car crash late last fall, so I'm sure that must have been a very heartwarming tribute to him.

I love how she took requests for this tour -- she sent out an e-mail asking fans on her mailing list which shows they were attending, and what cover songs they'd like to hear in the "Piano Bar" section of the show. It's so refreshing to follow an artist who actually knows how to communicate with her fans using the Internet.

The only date she's doing in Texas is outside of Dallas, so I'll miss this first leg of the tour. I, too, am hoping for a kick-ass band tour throughout the summer. :]

Thanks for the review & info! :xoxo:

I never realized this, but Tori also does Christine's "Songbird" in concert on occasion. I've never been fortunate enough to hear it (and never heard a bootleg of it), although I've heard her do "Landslide" twice.

I just found this page, which is a comprehensive database of all the songs Tori has performed in concert: when, where, total times... It's pretty mind-blowing that she has such a huge repertoire (and that someone would actually create a database to track it :D ).

That setlist is AWESOME. I love the fact that Tori doesn't play all of her hits and instead, plays some of the album greats that other artists wouldn't due to pressure from the lable. Sounds like a great show. I haven't seen her since her tour with Alanis  but that was one hell of a show and experience.

I gave away my tickets for Chicago and Detroit to my cousin, who loves her, and lives in a city she's not visiting. I'm glad to know it was such a great show.

You know, I'm not really a huge fan. I get the tickets by default from work. I like her- I actually liked Scarlet's Walk more than anything since Little Earthquakes- but I'm just not a big fan. So I'm glad my cousin's going to get to see her (for the first time!)- she'll really appreciate it more than I would.

You are so sweet. I found Tori live to be a magical experience, almost as much as Stevie.

Thanks for the review, Chris. That's an awesome setlist. I would LOVE to hear Josephine and Tear In Your Hand live -- two of my absolute favorite Tori songs.

I've never seen her live, but it's one of my missions in life. :)

One song I really want to here her perform is Raspberry Swirl or Mother. I hope i do one day
