Supervolcano
April 10 on the Discovery Channel:
http://dsc.discovery.com/convergence...ervolcano.html It's a great topic but I ain't keen on the presentation: combining scientific programming (or thereabouts in the case of Discovery) with dramatized form is really a dastardly thing to do. It winds up being neither good science nor good dramatic entertainment. This preview shows a car outrunning a pyroclastic flow. . . . YEAH, RIGHT . . . . which is bad science, & a bunch of characters saying "Oh My God" while staring at 14,000 fumaroles spewing out. . . . HEY STUPIDS!! . . . . which is bad drama & script. So who loses? We All Do |
I don't like Dramatized science shows, either. They bug the crap out of me. Dramatized history shows suck, too, but not as bad.

I like shows about facts, but i dont like how they scare the lving jeebus out of you abotu a volcano or tsunami that will wipe otu the world, but then end with sometihng like "But, this will not happen for another thousand of years" It makes as much sense as the ending of Ring 2.
