Why so little 1983 pro audio?

Except for the three doctored songs from Oakland, the US Festival 2, & the Capital Centre video (the upgrade of which is just really spectacular), why so little '83 pro audio or video?

I was just scanning a bunch of '83 photos somebody's hocking on eBay & really wishing I had a beautiful "Rhiannon" with real pro clarity -- all those shots of Stevie in her Mandarin phase make me want a video.

It's a real pisser, a real downer, one of the serious Stevie downers in my psyche for many years. What I wouldn't do to have a really great video of the California shows or the shows in the South in the final months.

I'm with you on this one. Almost all of my audio are sucky audience recordings. And I love that tour, so it is quite the downer. :distress:
Though that Capitol Centre video is amazing. I love it, I wish the full show was circulating...or maybe it is and I just don't know about it?

Wild Heart...Landover

"This is ELAINE!" "Do I have to give her back?"

Adorable moment and great show.

I would greatly appreciate someone posting those photos (the Mandarian ones) and explaining the Eliane thing.

I am a bit out of the loop these days it seems

I'll bring "Elaine" with me next month so you can see it for yourself in addition to those outtake (?) sequences from Rooms On Fire. Anybody know what those are? Stevie is twirling on a marble floor dressed from head to toe in red chiffon, there is another shot of the girls and then there is a beautiful shot of Stevie dressed in the costume from TOSOTM cover. However the music that plays over this sequence is Alice.

Strand - there's one vid circulating from the 83 tour that's incomplete (Landover/Largo). It stops around Gypsy, I think. It was proshot, a bit dark but the show is fab. Stevie picks a little girl named Elaine up from in the audience & holds her for a lot of Stand Back.

There's also a clip of her spinning Elaine around in the Sometimes It's a Bitch video.

I have often wondered why there's not more vid/pro-audio around from this tour. Also the 82 Mac tour - none of these shows were taped for vid besides the LA officially released show? Seems odd.

A Ha - I did not know that. Thanks for telling me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And - yes, gldstwmn - please bring those with you!!!!!

Is some of that footage also in the 1989 BBC special where Stevie reads 'And The Children Go On," and her and the girls sing "Doing The Best That I Can"?

From your description, some of those sequences sound familiar... but I can't place them entirely.

I wish there was a video of the Ames, IA show in later November of 83. A show where she actually had a lot of control over her voclas, unlike some other wild heart shows ive heard. Out of all the thousands of people that went to all those shows we could only fart out 1 Aud. recorded video, a pro shot, and the us fest. Cmon all you old traders need to poke your head out......

Yes, that's where it's from but I don't think it was shot exclusively for the BBC special. I think it's from something else but what I don't know.

Elaine

The thing about the Elaine section that I like is Stevie holds her for almost the entire Stand Back....and she is not THAT little. Maybe four or five. So she looks heavy after awhile and Stevie tries to dance and kick and rock out with Elaine. Then she makes a big production of introducing her to the audience and pretends to cry when she has to give her back to her mom. Lucky kid. Cute too, with long braids.

Regarding the little girl, I love it when Stevie says something like "Get them young...train them early!" She seemed quite wacky and wonderful on that tour, albeit a tad sloppy. She was so spontaneous and off-the-cuff. These days she appears much too measured and serious. I'm sure she still has her humour, but she doesn't display it as often in public. I dare say she was much more fun and unhibited when she was drinking and drugging.
